Default Share bands, songs that you like here

Just a general sharing thread via youtube or whatever of bands you like that you think others here should hear etc. Im looking for like minded musical interests to see what's out there I haven't heard really, as im sure others are (I have checked out some bands people have mentioned here which were interesting). So post some glimpses into bands you like or just songs that you think others should hear.

The Birthday Massacre - Holiday
An industrial/alt band that have a great individual sound that mixes elements of goth and electronica.

Killing Joke - Universe B
The best band to come out of post punk imo. Going through a few different styles since the 80's but mostly retaining an industrial and tribal edge they have been influential on much of the alternative/industrial music to come out of the 90's onward. The singer is one of my favourite lyricists.

Ok before I start pulling my own chain, share some stuff here you like.

It's very, very easy to go wrong with Pavement. IMO they were at the top of their game in Wowee Zowee, but others may disagree.

I would've said Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain would be the best one to start with. That's how I first got into them anyway.

i have been desperately loving this song lately, more so because of the music and the rhythm than the lyrics (french.) there is a strange nearly murkiness to it that i cannot get enough of.

noir désir - l'appartement
(uh, it's french)

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Bibi No Aozora

You may have heard it at the end of the film 'Babel'. It's been around much longer than that film. A great piece of work, imo.

It's their most accessable album. Range Life is a great song to listen to when you're at Netphoria.

Yea I agree I think their early albums are overrated and their later albums are underrated. I hardly ever listen to crooked or slanted anymore, though I liked them a lot when i first got them. However I listen to Wowee Zowee and Brighten the corners on a pretty regular basis.

I know I can't shout any louder through these forums, but I can amplify through repetition.

So here it is again:

Compare that to Tarantula and tell me what you think.

Thanks for contributions, listened to them all and it's cool to see pretty much all interesting bands/songs put forth.

Compare to Tarantula? Well it's hardly similar so not really sure what you are getting at (maybe you're thinking they deserve more attention?). They seem alright, I liked the songs you posted, second one seemed to show more versatility.

Quicksand - Fazer
An early hardcore band. Song taken from Slip which is just a brilliant album. Downloaded it to check them out and was hooked for weeks, great band.

Whoops, I meant compare that video to the Tarantula video - my mistake. ...They are similar, in sound and style.

ps. ...and in my book, PRR have the potential to reach every "watt of sound" or greatness that SP have, even though they've only formed in 2005 and only had 1 record. I'm not trying to sell their shit or anything, but I was just immediately impressed by this band that totally came out of left field one day as I was browsing the used records at my local shop. I keep worrying that no one will hear of them and soon their record company will stop supporting them or something... They don't exactly have a catchy name though, or remotely easy to understand lyrics, or allegiances/relationships with any other big name bands - they're kinda like the Mars Volta to that extent. If people didn't hear about them by word of mouth then I wouldn't have "Meccamputechture", their third album, today.

Doesn't remind me of Tarantula much at all to be honest. I guess the video has the same emulate psychedelic qualities but thats it really. The vocal approach in the chorus I guess is the only thing which is similar, Tarantula sounds a lot more rawer than this song. Maybe if I heard more of this band I could gauge what musical spectrum they are on but I don't think they are much like SP at all. They sound like a toned down My Vitriol in a way, without the guitar effects. Perhaps a little Fleetwood Macish with the vocals.

Still, sounds interesting and I will probably look more into them.
