It's hilarious that a band like Coldplay who desperately tried to come across as a band with artistic integrity ditched all that rhetoric and are ecstatically representing the lowest common denominator.

It's like Taylor Swift being a country artist

Has anybody heard the Australian band that's been aping nineties Britpop?

This is probably right up Elphenor's alley.

Where? In New York? I’m doin' that as well. I’ll have to watch them from side of stage and boo them.

Descriptions of their sound most frequently call upon Oasis, Primal Scream and Happy Mondays.

Suck it, Elph. You're basically an Aussie, mate.

Her living room reminds me of the sets from daytime soap operas like Days of Our Lives.

Stone Roses is really like Coldplay where it's like listening to nothing

They're not even bad they're just not good

i feel like there's some kind of club by this point of bands in this sort of vein who at some point or another in the past 5-6 years have called up rihanna for a "crossover single"

i guess tame impala would be in the reverse of that club

with the early stuff, Parachutes is great and if you don't like the 2 or 3 albums after that, whatever, but i can't for the life of me see why someone would be that pissed off that "Clocks" was on the radio
I liked Clocks a bunch back in its time, not gonna lie.

i like White Shadows & a coupla others from that one
i still remember buying it with Good News for People Who Like Bad News the year they came out
even actual coldplay fans seem to shit on that one a lot but i don't really get it, seems like a pretty good followup of Rush of Blood to me

But seriously, X&Y wasn't the worst thing ever, but just so bland, over-produced and lifeless. The only song I liked from it (posted previously) was a fucking hidden track. I pretty much checked out after that (though I remember hate-listening Livin La Viva Vida).

2005 was just full of disappointments from established acts. Weezer and The White Stripes dropped massive turds around the same time as Coldplay.

There's some moments in that "romary cavalry choirs are singin" one. The "I used to be the king, now the wolrd just sits on me" one. For example the woozy/spooky choiry "oohs oooooh oooooohs" at that one part in it. But then the cheesy timpani comes in and the Chrismartin starts to moanin

i knew Good News came out in 2004, so i figured X&Y had to, since i remember specifically buying them in high school not too long after joining some other message board

guess it was just "within the year"

regardless, i was pretty keen on both of 'em at the time

lord, c martin looks like my cousin

Aint that the truth. I was excited for Make Believe eager to hear what Rubin brought to the table, but goddamn, was the final nails in the coffin for the band as far as I was concerned. Red album helped restore some fandom though.

I actually thought Red (and Raditude) just made things worse. I really loved the two most recent ones though. Glad to have them back on track (fucking finally).
