that's a very popular opinion around here. people feel the same way about rocket too. everyone hates those two songs.

now rat in a cage, on the other hand, is a true hardcore fan favorite.

Gish: I don't really listen to this record much, maybe once or twice a year. So when I do put it on, I play it all the way through.

Siamese Dream: Nothing.

Pisces: Blue & Sandoz.

Mellon Collie: Nothing.

Aeroplane: Transformer, Tribute2Johnny & Pistachio. Also I don't listen to the Bullet disc much either, there's nothing particularly bad about it, except for Destination Unknown.

Adore: Daphne Descends, Pug & Pistol Pete.

Machina 1 & 2: Also don't listen to these ones much either, especially M2 (but that's more because of the sound quality than anything else). But honestly, if it wasn't for Wound, Ghost Children, Try Try Try, Slow Dawn, Home & Go, I'd probably never listen to Machina. It's just never grown on me. The piano and voice version of Saturnine on the Adore boxset is great though imo.

I really enjoy that too; I don't think it 100% works as its own thing, but as a companion to the first version it's pretty sweet

Default Worst of the worst.

Spaced (it's essentially a sound effect track right? But works if you play the album from front to back on repeat)
Take Me Down (Sorry James)
Believe (Sorry again, James)
The Bells (at this point, I have to stop apologizing)
Pistachio Medley (I don't have 23 minutes to spare on samples )
Daphne Descends (I prefer the Kerry B mix...if it were "You love her" it would be way more listenable)
Wound (can't stand the acerbic vocals)
The Crying Tree of Mercury (I like the goth-ness, but let's face it, it's tough to listen too most of the time)
Because You Are (too repetitive)
My Mistake (forgettable demo)
Saturnine (Adore version...the Machina II version is way better)

oh I meant how could you prefer the kerry brown mix to the lushness of the album version... but yeah, why would changing the pronoun make the song listenable?

The Machina II stuff like White Spyder doesn't even count to me, it was basically an unfinished demo. Maybe a finished version could be better - I wouldn't know, I couldn't get past the un-listenable sound quality this particular song had on MII. I could never stand "If there is a god" or "In My Body" either - and honestly most of the Machina II tracks weren't that good. Some of the more "finished" ones were ok - like Home and Slow Dawn especially. That whole era turned into a bloated mess once BC tried to turn it into a "concept" album. As far as the actual Machina tracks, Glass and the Ghost Children, The Everlasting Gaze, and Heavy Metal Machine were particularly bad IMO... and the songs he probably wrote as "singles" were mediocre as well (I'm thinking Age of Innocence and I of the Mourning). If he had stuck with most of the Arising material as originally played live, and written a couple of better singles that whole era might have been perceived differently - and who knows, maybe the band wouldn't have died in 2000.

There's alot of stuff on MCIS I really can't tolerate anymore, especially Tales of a Scorched Earth or even X.Y.U. They are borderline cringe worthy to me now, I was a bit annoyed that X.Y.U was so heavily featured on all the deluxe albums... hell it's even on Adore - though I actually enjoy that rendition for being different and filled with teases of of other songs.

Ava Adore was always embarrassing/cringe worthy to me. "You will always be my whore because you're the one that I adore" was like "Rate in a Cage" as far as embarassing lyrical lines. Daphne Descends, Perfect... I liked Adore on the whole - everything starting with Apples+Oranges might be my favorte stretch of SP ever, but there were some poor songs on there.

In My Body is like a lost classic. It's too long, but there's a lot of good meat to the song. So weird and the chord changes are so unexpected. And when the chorus kicks in and it's similar to the verse except the drums pick up and then just where you think you are going to get a jarring chord change, the progression comes full circle and gives us this dark, sweet pop hook... yeah, it's a good one!
