Even if you compared Silver Sometime to End of the World The Cure would wipe the floor w/ it, and i ain't NEARLY the Cure fan I used to be

I'm no music theorist but pretty sure 95% of the Cure's discography is in 4/4 champ

Easy Cure demos also go hard

it is fun to listen to them just go for it or whatev
in my experience it usually seems to be the Cure album for people who don't love what came after tho

when I saw them in 2016 the 6th encore or whatever the fuck was like the first 5 songs off The Top in order, lol. Truly baffling but, I appreciated it

Honestly if any one (millions-selling) band holds a record for "sets that look like you just started playing their whole discog on shuffle" it would have to be The Cure

& I say that in the most appreciative way possible

Oh & they played All I Want for the first time since '87 that night as well so, you know, that was pretty crazy

I guess when all yer doing is touring for the past 10 yrs you gotta keep yourself entertained somehow
At least it pays off for the audience as well. I mean, provided they didn't just come out for "Friday" & "Lovesong," hehe!

Lovesong still hits hard even when you're listening to it over the supermarket radio

Robert Smith is also the opposite of Corgan in that his voice holds up incredibly well

Everyone from the 80s “goth circle” seems to be doing pretty damn well in that regard. Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode sounds better than ever, Bernard Sumner in his 50s sounded like he was in his 20s, and... well I ain’t heard Morrissey for a while, but last I did he sounded pretty good too!

It pains me to admit, but the more I dive deeper into the vast amount of quality 80's shit, the more I realize how much it trumps the 90's as an era.

That's not to say that I'm still not a huge 90's fanboy... But it's easy to see how the 80's really paved the way with all of the experimentation and laid the groundwork for the 90's groups.

I.M.O.!
The Cure - I am befuddled that this is so far at the top. Otherwise, I largely agree. I would probably put Head on the Door first and Wish before Pornography. WMS is dead last.

I always thought that it was strange that Billiam got RS to appear on this track, and then buried his vocal so deep in the mix and minimized in through fading. Meanwhile, the belly is all over Take my Hand. In B's studio: "Put me higher!" In his host's studios: "Put me higher!"

WMS is unfairly maligned. It holds up well after all these years and is certainly not their worst. The self titled album is by far their worst album.

Just curious: what are the best WMS tracks in your opinion?

Yes. Their setlists are always impeccably balanced.

Disintegration > Pornography > Faith > Seventeen Seconds > Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me > Head on the Door > The Top > Bloodflowers > Wish > The Cure > Japanese Whispers > Three Imaginary Boys > Wild Mood Swings > 4.13 Dream

For reference, I only think WMS and 4:13 Dream actually suck.

Charlotte Sometimes is like the 25th or 30th best Cure song

Also Shadaloo you nailed the first 4, good job. Why is Three Imaginary Boys so low though? Is it because Killing an Arab is excluded and the real album is Boys Don't Cry?

1. "10:15 Saturday Night" 3:42
2. "Accuracy" 2:17
3. "Grinding Halt" 2:49
4. "Another Day" 3:44
5. "Object" 3:03
6. "Subway Song" 2:00

1. "Foxy Lady"
2. "Meathook" 2:17
3. "So What" 2:37
4. "Fire in Cairo" 3:23
5. "It's Not You" 2:49
6. "Three Imaginary Boys" 3:17
7. "The Weedy Burton"

I only count 5 good tracks. Accuracy is catchy, but sort of gimmicky. the US release adds BDC, Killing an Arab, Train, and eliminates Weedy Burton and several others. Still I skip several tracks.
