Theory: Elph hates Arcade Fire cause he identifies with the "kids in art school" that Win Butler derisively mentions numerous times throughout The Suburbs. Those tunes are a direct attack on exactly the kind of boring, hand-me-down bourgeois nihilism that he trades in.

Paul’s gotten to be a much better lyricist in last few albums. Really starting with self titled. And continuing with El Pintor and this one. He was even saying in interview that there is a lot more clarity this time around.

He and Brandon Flowers both started off as terrible lyricists. I can’t even count how many awful lines there are on hot fuss and TOTBL

I liked Franz better when they were called Gang of Four. Say what you will about Interpol but they at least have some original ideas. I don’t really get a sense that monkeys have many original ideas either.

Daniel Kessler is an amazing almost brilliant guitarist at times. Interpol do have some original ideas. Outside of him they don’t.

I'd wager from previous discussions that where you think Interpol is being original they are doing something you just personally haven't heard being that you've characterized anything outside of the MOST popular bands as music that apparently nobody listens to

Interpol are kind of like u2 in the sense that edge and Kessler are the only real savants in the groups. Everyone else is ok but the guitar playing in both bands really sets them apart

What you’re saying kind of reminds me of the band Civil twilight. If some teenager heard them recently and wasn’t familiar with u2 they would probably think civil twilight were geniuses.

Even Arcade Fire's bad album has a handful of good tracks... but wow is the rest of it shitty. Truly bombed out.

The Suburbs Deluxe is an incredible album. Better than Neon Bible imo.

Franz aren't any more similar to Go4 than Interpol are to Joy Division
There's an obvious influence but the 2 are clearly discernible

No Franz are Gang of Four 2.0. Just like editors are echo and bunnymen 2.0. I stand by statement that Interpol are only one of bunch that have any original ideas.

There nothing on editors albums you couldn’t find on echo and bunnymen albums and the same with Franz and Gang of Four. Or even white lies and tears for fears.
