I actually took those with my clunker of a camera. It's good with the flash on, but I didn't wanna be disrespectful to the band. Although I think I should probably clean the lens.

I gotta say though Took, I was thoroughly impressed.

I had mentioned thinking about going to the show to a friend, and she called me up last night and mentioned that someone bailed on her friend and the ticket was mine for 10$ if I wanted it so I decided to go check it out. I had no idea what to expect, as I hadn't really listened to em much before.

I went to the store, bought a 1 liter bottle of soda, dumped out half and poured a mickey in and headed out on the train. I polished it off by the time I got there. Outside the venue I was talking with some metal-heads and they smoked a couple of joints with me... I was more stoned than I've been in ages... And fuck! what an awesome band to see ripped!

I gotta admit though, I was not expecting that. I thought they'd play more up-tempo kind of shit live but it was really slow, droney stuff for the most part. There was a pretty big crowd for em there, but a lot of people seemed confused, and weren't even rocking out... Some girls started talking during songs and it seemed like the audience just didn't get it... Which is odd, because you'd figure if they make it out to the show that they had to have been familiar with the group. Definitely an unorthodox type of set and unlike any I experienced before.

Random thoughts:

- the drummer had a really good stage presence and one of the highlights for me was when he started singing. He seemed really into it

- The bass player was super hot

- I really dug the outfits and the lighting and the continuous use of the smoke machines made for a really cool vibe

Definitely gonna go check out their library now.

I also didn't expect the drummer to take such a minimalist approach. The stuff I heard was more rocking, but he really played in almost an avant-garde sort of style. The use of the gong was rad though.

ahhh durrrrrrrrrrrr. Didn't even initially notice, but I can clearly see now that the top guitar in his rig is a bass.

Hard to really tell at the moment with the smoke and lighting .

Ahh makes sense and is why I guess some people were left scratching their heads. Some songs sounded like they're about to break out and just never do.

What'd you think of the set-list man? I guess it's the new album played front to back and some other tracks. Definitely was sort of bizarre, but I dug it.

I'm listening to the album Attention Please right now and it's literally nothing like what I witnessed last night lol. Such a vast repertoire really is impressive.

Dear is awesome. Best thing they have done in years. They have reached the point where instead of putting out albums that showcase different styles they are doing songs that are a blend of styles..

Yeah I know man, but the truth is I have toned it down a lot. Nowadays I only drink if I'm gonna do something fun. Before I was drinking nearly everyday.

That's cool though man. I'm gonna check out the new album. It sounded pretty awesome... But totally not what I was expecting. I guess I should have wikipedia'd the band and had a little knowledge about what I was going to see but the whole thing ended up so last minute.
