slow dawn, vanity, stand inside your love and maybe in my body are good, probably the best tracks from both machina's, along with a handful of others, but nothing reaches the heights they achieved before that. add to that a whole lot of mediocre songs and a fair amount of godawful ones, overall terrible production and just the endless dragging of the whole thing, not to mention the cringey lyrics and the fucking machina mystery and it's fair to say both the albums are really bad.

heavy metal machine, sacred and profane, crying tree are absolutely terrible. hardly any redeeming qualities in the first place, also as if that's not bad enough the songs are stretched out to a ridiculous extent. hey guys hmm is only 4 minutes long, let's add the chorus again. and again! and then let's add multiple, even worse versions on m2.

glass and the ghost children has awesome atmosphere, moreso than the other aspects like chord progression or singing melody. but then there has to be a minute or two of the sound of billy talking to his therapist. the therapist had to be rolling his eyes when hearing that pretentious bullshit but billy thought it was good enough to put it in the middle of a song, for the whole world to hear.

I remember really trying to like it when it came out and the first few years after that and I kind of did, although the disappointment after the earlier albums always prevailed. on listening occasions later in my life I disliked most of it and I still try it once in every few years and I usually end up asking myself why.

I don't completely hate everything about it, I like aforementioned songs and glass' theme, dross, age of innocence. I love the superhuman drumming on TEG and cash car star. and some other aspects. but the bad outweighs the good by a big margin.

to me, it's a nothing song. Nothing happens in it. it's not very happy nor very sad, it doesn't rock yet it's not very gentle either, no memorable melodies or riffs. plus, it's got that bangin' rhythm underneath it all

I can honestly say that Sacred is the only SP1 era album track that I not only dislike but find truly disposable. It just feels bland and listless with that drum loop forcing Jimmy to stay on the grid and its meandering tempo. Also it has no hooks.
