Any Eels fans?
They (he?) get a lot of abuse, but I either loved or really liked everything they did up to and including "Blinking Lights..." I saw them live in Stockholm around that time (the "Eels with Strings" tour) and they were very good, and E was very dry and funny.
After that album E ran out of things to say and seemed to lose his lyric-writing skills and his ear for a melody. The last few albums consist of him going over themes that he explored a hundred times better on earlier albums, without even a decent melody or lyrical insight to make it listenable. Shame. |

This was never really one of my absolute favourites but I was in a relatively good place when it came out. Actually, listening to it now, it still sounds gorgeous to me.

This one summed up my life in 2007. I emailed it to the girlfriend who I'd recently broken up with (pretty much her decision because of my issues and my rampant drinking and pill popping), telling her, "It has a bruised beauty," but she took it to mean I hated her. We ended up on civil terms, though.

Yeah, I'm fully aware that I'm in a thread that I started, talking to only myself, recommending myself videos, but I will march onward.
This was one of my favourite videos, way back. Last edited by Elijah Moon : 10-19-2014 at 06:18 PM. |

Colgate (or some toothpaste brand) wanted to use this in an advert... It would've kinda trivialized the sentiment somewhat. This reminds me of being in LOVE
