Forgot Stone Temple Pilots on my earlier list.
I don't get why this band is so beloved by some.

I don’t want to like any bands that I don’t like. Not sure of the point of this.

Lou Reed
Talking Heads
The Smiths

I respect them as artists, I just can't get into their sounds.

Yeah. I'd get it if this was a "bands I wish I didn't like" thread, but this just seems a lot like "I wish I could like these bands and be accepted by my peers."

Their only album I really like is Tiny Music, the others are very hit and miss to me.

I was gonna make a short list, but then I realised that it's not that I wished I liked the bands, I just don't care for them. I am occasionally jealous of people who enjoy music that I don't "get" though.

But then I remembered this band Kalaidoscope, which are quite well regarded by psychedelic rock enthusiasts. I find them really naff and hokey, even for psych pop. It comes off as a bland and amateurish bastardisation of what far better and more underrated bands were able to produce.

This helps. THANKS!

"In England, they don't have '2x4's, which is a non-metric term for a wooden plank. That image is from watching so many cartoons as a child - Road Runner hitting Wile E. Coyote with a two-by-four. It was that kind of imagery. When I listen to the lyrics now, for his part, it's evident that Mark was talking about my family's perception of him. There's a line where he goes 'used table leg to club son-in-law'."

-Brix

put a big smile on my face when I was able to finally make sense of what this track is about

This thread starts with someone proclaiming that they can't enjoy The Cure, that they can't enjoy anything out of fucking The Hanging Garden or Lovecats or Disintegration or Out Of This World or Seventeen Seconds or The Funeral Party, you get the point, because of "Goth Image" so i mean there you have it really.

I couldn't tell if they actually wanted to like it because of the Goth image

or were unable to dig because of the Goth image

or which one of those is more ridiculous

Not really a particular reason other than the fact that I haven't found a song I like a whole lot yet. Really just need to set some time to go through their discography and whatnot. I've seen interviews and live recordings from most of them, and they just seem like interesting bands to get into.
I wanted to like the Meat Puppets too, cause of Lake of Fire, Oh Me and Plateau, the whole Nirvana thing. And because they had a cool name and were kinda obscure/underground at one time. But then I listened to their albums and didn't. Tragedy!!!!!

i never got into Mars Volta, a band everyone seems to "cream" about

& i always felt like i was destined to get more into Flaming Lips, considering how much i love their late 90s/early 00s work but, that has yet to happen as well

I wanted to like the Black Crowes, because of their name, the lead singer's voice and the old-fashioned rock 'n' roll vibe with a little piano mixed in.

I wanted to like KMFDM, because of their name and the sorta underground industrial metal anti-authority outsider vibe I associate them with (the Columbine killers loved them) and because I love the song Stray Bullet.

I also wanted to like The Wipers cause Kurt Cobain liked them and again cause they're sort of a cult underground band.
