Btw I got four pos reps yesterday and one of them was from whatcolor.

A couple of days ago I got a pos rep from pavementune. As the Killers song says "higher and higher."

The drums had honestly never jumped out at me as poor to any noteworthy extent, but I guess I also hadn't really thought about it all that much and probably don't know enough about the instrument to say. Perhaps it'd qualify as a cop-out to suggest that they've always felt "appropriate" to the style.
that's the one.

MAN, i got good ears.

Teh B0lly I am so excited that you are getting into Alcest nice and proper. As for the rest of you poor fools who have been so deprived, here are my fav alcest tunes:

This is a short little soft song, my short go to song for blazing.

THIS IS MY FAV ALCEST SONG OF ALL TIME. BLAZE TREEZ AND LISTEN MORTAL VERMIN

This is one is hella chill. The guitars are soo shoegazy I cry (and cum) a little every time i listen to it.

Here is the music video for Opale. Probably Neige's most radio-friendly tune. It makes me smile.

Neige purposely chose androgynous looking models. He should of called me up. I would of done anything for a 20 sack.

Which one is closer to the hobbit-heart, Neige led Alcest or the noble BORIS?

Boris I've been losing my mind over for the last ten years. I have had Boris dreams.

Alcest I just discovered. I've never fallen in love with a band so fast. <3

I heard the Alcest album "Les Voyages de l'Âme"

Surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I listened to it all the way through and that rarely ever happens with new albums. I just didn't like the screamy bits much, but they were very few.
There are some beautiful moments spread throughout. Thumbs up!

Debut: shoegaze
Second album: black metalgaze
Third: post rock-ish mixed with modern rock sounding bs
Fourth: new direction, like they took the good bits of their first two albums and toned down the yarl of the third
Fifth: yet to be determined because I've heard it like once

how can Les Voyages be bad to you i mean it's the quintessential album that represents the most complete sound and vision of the band

on all other records something is added or substracted and the balance is not quite as perfect. on Les Voyages you have everything: breathtaking etherealness, heart wrenchingly beautiful melodies, shrieking black metal apocalypse (licensed to Fooltoke), texture, balance, dynamics.

i'm still wading my way through their discography, but Voyages is definitely more 'complete' and well rounded than either Shelter or Kodama (and i love both)

Shelter (fourth album) is basically a poppier record that eliminates all metal influences completely. it's got no screams on it and it's much more in the direction of shoegaze. much sweeter. at first i thought it was a bit bland tbh, and didn't quite get it - but only very recently it started to click for me and now i think it's beautiful.

same with Kodama - when i first listened i thought it was too metallic and stripped down, but seeing the band performing it live changed that for me and now i just hear it differently. it's definitely great, but still doesn't quite rise up to the orgasmic heights of Voyages.

first two records i'm still working on.

Glad d showed up.

Yeah Ciel Errant is coll. So is Souvenirs dautre monde (or whatever the fucking french).

D if you want to get into kodama perhaps you should listen to eclosion. i couldn't stop listening to it last winter. might be neiges most successful shoegaze blackmetal blend.
