I've been doing the SP video rounds this week. When they were on form its unbelievable how good a live act they were. What in your opinion is the best live performance that captures the dynamic energy of The Smashing Pumpkins? My pick:

I don't even know what performance it is, sometime when Billy had hair, maybe around 93/94
but there is a performance of Hummer where Billy absolutely goes nuts slamming on the guitar and screaming when it gets to "I WANT SOMETHING NEW," and to me that moment kind of defines their power as a live act back in the day. it's what I thought of when ninsp made that asinine comment about SP always being lame, immobile, shoegazers live |
