jazz being taught in school doesn't mean the innovation has stopped.
you can't really make it as a jazz artist if you don't have your own color. i mean you can't merely imitate coltrane's playing and expect any kind of recognition or fame. |

i'm sure you're opinion of yourself hasn't changed. it's just funny in a juvenile way that you feel superior because of the music you like since it makes you feel like a part of some redemptive punk culture that no one could possibly get. and you have to remind others as much as possible.
and that makes you feel like a grandpa. lol Last edited by yo soy el mejor : 09-26-2016 at 06:40 PM. |

nah it doesn't take a rocket scientist (or psychoanalyst) to figure out you think liking punk rock makes you hot shit.
why do you even care what i say, anyway? that's, like, against punk Last edited by yo soy el mejor : 09-26-2016 at 06:59 PM. |

so 21-year-old girl and I established that we would both find it amenable to get to know each other better
where do I take her? what do we do? I have no idea what 21-year-olds like these days. the whole world has changed since I was 21. when I was her age, weed was dank, not memes. Last edited by redbreegull : 09-27-2016 at 11:15 AM. |

Bring her anywhere you think is nice and if she doesn't like it, say you enjoy that place ironically.

seriously though i went on sort of a date with some 21 or 22 year old while i was in Shanghai and it was a horrific experience for me. like, i already know i have a tendency to appreciate old people stuff and overall preferences in life, but it really drove home for me how far removed i am from young people's mindset. age difference\perspective is one thing, but the stuff young people find important these days - that distance is unbridgeable for me.
i would imagine it's very hard to find somebody who isn't deeply into everything this current generation made a career out of whining about yet doing it anyway (endlessly engaging in social media, competing for likes, projecting glamorous image, being glued to your phone, uploading any food item you ever order to instagram, etc) |

rbg, i think you two will get along just fine. it's not like you've matured automatically as you've gotten older.

we can do much generalization but...
i dated two 20-yr-olds when i was 30, they were pretty cool and i enjoyed the time we spent. one was artsy but not in pretentious way. very energetic. one had an overly optimistic outlook on life. of course i wouldn't date some immature 20-yr-old, i was already looking at older girls when i was that age. it all depends on what kind of person she is and what she's into. could be a real rebel like elphenor. also rbg you're like 5 years older, not a big deal. |

Girls in their early twenties are much more palatable than guys in their early twenties anyway. I dated people your age and older when I was 21, and even now my husband is six years older than me. I met him when I was 22 and he was 28 so that's pretty much what y'alls ages are. It just depends on the people.

She seems cool and mature for her age but who knows, I guess I won't know 'til we go to the mall or whatever 21-year-olds like to do.

Don't go to the mall, why would you do that if you don't like it? Age doesn't matter as much as similar interests, dummy
