does any here speak fluent spanish, btw? who speaks the most languages? what languages you know? what languages do you wish you knew (top 3)?

i wish i were fluent in spanish, asl, and french. in that order with french in a distance 3rd just because asl and spanish are important to me for personal reasons.

did you know dos in french means back? and the named do-si-do square dance comes from dos-ŕ-dos, which means back to back. thanks, high school french.

I remember learning in grade-school French class the words for pizza ingredients. Champignon. Fromage. Tomate. (Shia) le boeuf. Ananas (beurk).

Because the first thing I'm gonna do when I go to France is call up Pčre Jacques' (that's what they call their Dominoes, isn't it?).

to be fair, pizza is the most all-important subject matter in existence, so it's only fair to first learn how to describe and discuss pizza, and then move on to the rest.

I'm fluent in Portuguese and English

My spanish is really crappy, portuguese is just close enough to it where you can make all kinds of dumb mistakes when you jumble up the two. Plus most people from the spanish speaking countries which neighbor brazil are pretty used to speaking to portuguese speaker, so you can actually get a conversation going even if both people aren't speaking the same language.

I've studied enough japanese to be able to read some kana, but got stuck trying to learn the kanji by myself.

I thought that the whole point of ordering a pizza was that you tell them what you want your pizza to be made of.

http://1.media.collegehumor.cvcdn.co...eef-please.jpg

Aw shit, I mean "Pčre Jean's." "Jacques" is apparently "James," not "John." Then the fuck is the English version of that Frčre Jacques rhyme "Brother John?"

English

Spanish
Korean

I was in honors Spanish in college and high school but I never continued it. My reading comprehension is still very good but I'm bad at speaking it on the spot. I need to think out my sentences.

I have studied Korean for almost a year but I've had less exposure to it than Spanish so my vocabulary is smaller but succinct. I love the way it feels to speak it but it has a lot of sounds very different from English so it takes some getting used to. The sentence structure is also backwards.

I'm not good at languages, except English.

I studied Spanish for five years and I have a pretty big vocabulary, but my ability to construct sentences is very limited. I can read/understand simple Spanish pretty ok I guess. I'd like to be able to really speak it because eventually the US is gonna be a truly bilingual country... all US children should have to learn Spanish from kindergarten IMO

Thank you! I've studied english since I was really young, around 12 I started on my own trying to figure out lyrics to songs I liked. That put me at a level higher than most my schoolmates and english at school became incredibly boring, shortly after I started complaining my mom enrolled me in an English specific course which I really enjoyed (teacher and classmates were the best) and I stuck with that to completion.

That said, I still make tons of mistakes and trip up on words or how to phrase them properly, so i'm always trying to learn and improve it further.

re: music lessons (yo soy brought this up in the old-- er, new... the previous chat thread)

I think I will take them. But I have a dilemma. On the one hand, I feel like I'd derive more utility from voice lessons, seeing as I can't sing for shit and don't even know how to go about practicing, but though I'd like to be better at guitar, I've at least gotten this far through autodidactism and can see myself going further with some consistent practice.

However, looking at the pictures of the instructors at the place I am thinking of getting lessons at, one of the guitar teachers is a QTpa2T.

What do?
