is it just me or is that photo terrifying to look at.

i've had so many nightmares wherein i fall off the side of a ship in the middle of the ocean in the middle of the night and either get drawn under by the props or just left there until i drown.

i am actually not afraid of going on ships or anything like that. mom worked for a cruise line for many years so we went on cruises like twice a year for a while.

i'm more afraid of being next to a ship, you know?

like it's hard to conceive the actual size of the thing unless you're outside of it. it's just oppressive to look at.

i had a classmate that was a professional diver who would do underwater repairs on ships. he had a friend that died because he didn't follow safety protocols and was shredded by the prop. and i was like NOPE NOPE NOPE.

does looking at the photo not fill you with an overwhelming sense of dread and helplessness?

yeah its insane how big some of these ships are. and then you consider how small they are out in the open ocean when nothing is around. some of those oil tankers are huge

Aww Zaandam's my favorite ship.

QM2 needs to get a little TLC, her beard is mighty.

sort of along the same lines, I always found this picture of the statue of liberty out of the context we are used to seeing it interesting
