Default Pumpkins to have new song on a Guitar Center compilation..

I work at Guitar Center and they have a program for employees called "Gain". Its designed to help their employees further their music careers. They are putting out a compilation CD right now of Guitar Center employee's bands. They are working on a second compilation and I just got this in an email from Gain:

Quote:
"Fresh Tracks Vol. 2
It’s official! It is my pleasure to announce that the Smashing Pumpkins will be writing and recording a track exclusively for the second volume of the Fresh Tracks GAIN compilation CD. The Smashing Pumpkins will also be choosing the songs that will go on the CD. The submission period is NOW. You have until January 10th to submit a song. Go to the website and click on the GAIN #2 picture to get to the submission page. Good luck!"

The first compilation is just coming out now, so I don't know when the second one will be hitting stores.

That's awesome! Everyone on Netphoria will pretend to hate it to be cool while secretly listening to it with headphones in the closet like they do with everything post Adore, but we know deep down they will like it.

It looks like the Pumpkins are going to be as prolific as ever (or more so!). When I learned that Zeitgeist was going to be only twelve tracks I was a bit worried.

seriously.

no one who "[pretends] to hate it" actually does this.

So this is something that's only available to Guitar Center employees? Or will it be commercially available as well?

The first compilation is only guitar center bands and is free and available at your local guitar center. It might not be out quite yet but it will be very soon. The second one is going to be guitar center bands (that are picked by the pumpkins) and an exclusive track. My guess is that one will be free too.

Cool -- maybe they'll make really good use of guitars on it.

How long has the first compilation been in the works? I'm trying to get an idea of how long the new one will take. But if you have to submit your songs by Jan. 10, sounds like it wont be too long from now.

So you think they are going to use Gossamer on a free cd? Maybe you're right, but I doubt it..
