the mid-00s was when Corgan started reading shit people said about him on the internet aka the shelving of Chicago Kid aka beginning of the end (of the beginning)

it is amazing how he lost so much gentleness and nuance in his voice between those videos and Zeitgeist just 3-4 years later

i'd say even from just those early Zwan songs (like the "bluegrass" one posted earlier) to Mary Star

i'll need a solid example if i'm going to believe this half-baked analysis... because i've never even bothered to find recordings of the shitcago kid project

I refuse to stand by my half baked assertion. But this thread has videos. He has played a number of these songs live. Seems to me that he just adds a little bit of chord complexity while droning and whining on. My memory at the time was that he was really concentrating hard on his sophisticated picking, which was why he raged against the cougher.

His picking is better on Chicago Songs than on anything else he's ever done.

A bunch of really good songs btw, I would highly recommend checking them out if it's been awhile

A lot of that Zwan stuff is incredibly overrated. There is a couple of unreleased songs that sounded kinda cool live, but we all know Corgan likely butchered them in the studio anyhow.

You know what's not overrated? Your opinions, cause everyone knows they suck

Same here. Yeah! (despite being perhaps the most poorly titled song in Billy’s entire song catalogue) has an amazing groove and just makes me feel all kindsa happy. MSOTS is really good album overall; only songs I don’t like are Endless Summer and Of a Broken Heart.

i like endless summer in and of itself, but i also love how it turns the endless/awesome summer theme on its head, like when will this fucking summer ever end

it is ok, it has some good melodies going on under a ton of words and uninspired strumming. old bill might have made something out of it

where the fuck is your rap you cowardly snowflake trump loving man toddler?

I made my original comment cause I am pretty sure you recently said you had never even listened to the unreleased Zwan stuff. just another thing you know nothing about but feel driven to have an opinion on

PavementTune personally addressed me and told me that I would not be allowed to post the rap here, so I decided not to bother. I've got a library of drum loops so it wouldn't have taken me long.

Regarding Zwan, I never said anything of the sort. I've listened to all of the unreleased Zwan stuff long ago. I'm not saying there isn't some potential, but it's not this trove of gold like some fans make it out to be... And as was mentioned, Corgan likely would have butchered the material in the studio anyhow.

remember how Jeff was going to ruin the reunion tour because it's impossible to make 3 guitars sound ok on stage at once?

that was a funny one too
