Gira is a huge control freak megalomaniac. There's plenty of stories about him tearing through his bandmates, on stage and backstage.

should have stopped after the Green Album. They've been making the same record over and over.

was there really a need for this?

1998/2010: Swans

Maybe Mogwai. Even then i still think their best records are behind.

I like Springsteen but by 1987 the best was all behind. I wouldn't see him live for anything he did past the early 80's

Seriously 1995 U2? that was right before they did Pop....meaning when they started heading downward fast. Though looking back i think that had started in 1991 but most music critics i think would agree that Achtung Baby sound wise was relevant in 1991.

I really don't get the love for Swans on this forum.........

I'm not even gonna address whoever mentioned RHCP, Green day and foo Fighters. Having a hit record does not equal being relevant i'm afraid. Otherwise U2 is still relevant and that's just ridiculous (well i guess their last tanked a bit by U2 Standards...just for the note i saw Bono some time last year on TV saying that they were asking themselves does the world need another U2 record, is it still relevant? and i thought...you're asking yourself that question NOW!?!? welcome to twenty years ago....)

I guess all that equality she was after was silly, she just needed to balance her mind.

Agreed. His music career seems more about his relationship with the industry than the music itself. Remember his big announcement? "I've signed a 2 record deal!!" -everyone thought Jimmy was coming back ffs.

Come on man, you're trying to tell me that Californication and American Idiot weren't relevant albums?

I mean, both of those bands have both since fallen outta relevancy to quite a degree, but you said "after 15 years".

NOFX was never relevant, but they were relevant amongst punk fans and a lot of their best music came 15-20 years after they formed.

Dinosaur Jrs comeback album was fucking awesome

They've released one 8-song album since In Rainbows. A bit of an early call, no? Besides, if they were to only release mediocre crap from now on, it's still a phenomenal run they've had. In Rainbows is just as good, if not better, than The Bends which came out 12 years earlier.

When I first read the title I thought this thread was about Nicole being "kinda halfway out" of the closet.

i'm just comparing productivity levels

gira's been at this since 1980 and did lots of cool stuff like angels of light as well as the new swans stuff

radiohead's coasting on rep now. i saw their ACL performance as well and it sucked, thom can't sing at all. I don't know for sure but could he ever sing outside of the studio? I feel like he could at one point.

fuck radiohead kill radiohead!!!

yet again

i am comparing productivity levels

there is no "different roles" when you seem to be unable to release more than 8 shitty in rainbows c-level tracks in the past seven (!!!) goddamn years

what it says to me is a band that's 1) out of ideas 2) coasting straight to the rock and roll hall of fame

and radiohead will be there and they will fucking love it

She is openly married to a woman... So no she is not in the straight closet.
