I'm debating seeing this August gig sober. Really be 'in the moment' and geek out on technical shit

but then again, drugs

two weeks ago i went to a festival and i went to stand in the front for this one band, expecting to need the toilet after three songs, and prepared to leave my prime spot if that would happen. (i wouldn't be able to return to it. too many people.)
to my surprise i didn't need to piss at all. two songs before the end of the show, i decided to leave anyway, because i had gotten really, really thirsty.

I've been sober for most of the gigs I went to in the past 15 years and enjoy it a lot more. Prior to that I have ticket stubs of concerts but no recollection of attending.

And yeah with my bladder, I could never drink and go to a concert, not unless I stand way back by the toilet.

Smoking is hard too, these days. So my solution has been edibles/weed milk. As they say in France, "Whallah!"

Yea drinking and gigs never were a great match for me, the lines at the bathrooms for women are longer than at any bar, and once you get in, you wish you hadn't. Wearing diapers is not a desire of mine (yet).

Woodstock 50th?

https://consequenceofsound.net/2019/...al-lineup/amp/

Today, Lang emailed talent and booking agents to inform them that he would not try to enforce contracts for the event, according to Billboard. Instead, he’s working with Merriweather operator Seth Hurwitz from I.M.P. to put together a new lineup. Among the possible acts are Smashing Pumpkins and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who already have a show scheduled at Merriweather for August 17th.

We did an edible at home a couple months ago and I just ended up laughing my fucking ass off at a Mr. Bean DVD.

Billy addressed that issue on his Instagram

Gig update: Spoke to agent, said no conflict or issue with our date and Woodstock venue change. Nothing proposed or suggested in terms of a change for SP, and we’d be first to know. #FakeNews.

so, people who went last year - did tickets ever go down when it got close to the show? cos there's a shitload of open seats at the venue we're planning to go to and we're kind of holding off hoping they'll have the sense to not just leave them standing at 100 apiece or whatever & actually try to fill the seats

Seems like that with all the venues. All the casual fans that already went last year probably are skipping this one.

Would recommend one of two things. Either wait until the day of the show and hope they drop significantly, or buy lawn seats for 20 bucks and hope you get upgraded. Those interactive maps though don't show how many lawn tickets have been sold (which is like half the venue tickets) so that could be risky if they don't select you specifically for upgrade.

Ticket sales of the first concerts a week before the tour starts:

A tour with no concert getting sold out...?

I had my tickets beforehand for last summer's tour so I don't know what prices will do. In general at the Livenation amphitheaters, you can upgrade pretty cheap. I bought tickets to the Who for $20 during their concert week sale, then upgraded to the 4th row for $20 more.

That's the problem with these nostalgic reunion endeavors. The first tour back will always be a big-tiime success and then it's always just a cycle of diminishing returns.

When STP first reformed, they were selling out the big arenas for their first tour back...Their second tour back they were playing slightly smaller arenas that were only half full, their 3rd tour back they were playing amphitheaters with plenty of seats left. A similar thing happened with Soundgarden and countless other groups doing the reunion cash-grab over the years... Even big draws like Motely Crue.

The only solution to this problem is to put out relevant new music and after Shiny and Oh So Bright Volume 1, I doubt that's gonna happen.

CBluff, I assume you're already on top of it, but please commence creeping on this poor backup singer and have a full, intimate, why-does-he-know-this profile worked up on her by tomorrow

The festival of love & peace & money:

First Michael Lang, owner of the "Woodstock"-festival sine 50 years, tried to do the anniversary together with Live Nation. Then they estranged and Live Nation wanted to do their own thing under a "Woodstock" label. Which Michael Lang prevented to get realized.
Then he got unexpected problems with the venue where he tried to hold his festival...
Don't mess with Live Nation.

I assume, you haven't noticed, I only pushed the "Grave Next Door" thread, to show D'arcy the positive vibe and reputation they already get without her.
I seriously sent her a link to the Netphoria thread when Buttcannon started it.

You must feel like an honorable paramedic to backup a poor singer's voice!
