Thumbs up Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour 2011 (feat Neutral Milk Hotel??)

http://pitchfork.com/news/40964-elep...surprise-tour/

Quote:
Back in 2008, the sprawling and storied Athens, Georgia psych-pop tribe the Elephant 6 collective launched the Holiday Surprise tour. The idea was that members of these interweaving bands-- including Neutral Milk Hotel, of Montreal, the Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, and plenty of others-- would collaborate each evening, switching off instruments and playing each other's songs. Early next year, they'll do it again, crossing the U.S. with a huge lineup of over 14 musicians that includes many of the collective's stalwarts.

This year's tour will feature short films, as well as audience participation games lead by Music Tapes frontman Julian Koster. We're promised songs by bands such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, Circulatory System, the Music Tapes, and more, performed by Will Cullen Hart, Bill Doss, Peter Erchick, John Fernandes, Julian Koster, Scott Spillane, Andrew Rieger, Laura Carter, Derek Almstead, Heather McIntosh, Bryan Poole, Theo Hilton, Robbie Cucchiaro, and others.

During the 2008 tour, reclusive Neutral Milk Hotel frontman Jeff Mangum put in a few appearances. Considering that Mangum has been warming to the idea of showing his face in public lately, there's at least a remote possibility that he'll rejoin his old crew for a show or two on this tour.

Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour:

02-24 Roswell, GA - WhirlyBall Atlanta
02-25 Tallahassee, FL - Club Downunder (Florida State University)
02-26 New Orleans, LA - One Eyed Jacks
02-28 Austin, TX - Emo's Inside
03-01 Dallas, TX - The LOFT at the Palladium
03-03 Phoenix, AZ - The Duce
03-04 Los Angeles, CA - The Satellite
03-05 San Francisco, CA - The Independent
03-08 Portland, OR - Backspace at the Someday Lounge
03-09 Seattle, WA - The Vera Project
03-11 Salt Lake City, UT - Kilby Court
03-12 Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge
03-14 Minneapolis, MN - Varsity Theater
03-15 Chicago, IL - Lincoln Hall
03-16 Kalamazoo, MI - The Strutt
03-17 Cleveland Heights, OH - Grog Shop
03-18 Toronto, Ontario - Horseshoe Tavern

03-20 Easthampton, MA - Flywheel
03-22 Brooklyn, NY - Knitting Factory
03-23 New York, NY - Le Poisson Rouge
03-24 Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church
03-25 Charlottesville, VA - The Southern Cafe and Music Hall

I have my tickets for the Minneapolis and Chicago shows. Not sure how many of you guys even care (except for slunken... and mayfuck, who isn't even here anymore), but I have a hunch Mangum would be more active this time 'round... If anything, I'd bet for the NY and Chicago dates.

I'm mostly wanting to hear the new Olivia Tremor Control songs. So there you go.

Hopefully I'll have enough cash in 2 months to make the 4 hour trip to go see this.
