"It's ironic: she had the booze, I had the chronic..."
No, Sir Ice Cube, that is not ironic. Fortunate maybe, but not even a coincidence.

WRONG!!! ACCORDING TO YAHOO QUESTIONS:
Its ironic bc/ Ice Cube usually has both. It is also ironic bc/ everything was going good that day which is not a normal day in the hood. Usually they wouldn't have weed and chronic bc/ then everything would be going swell which is usually not what is happening in the ghetto usually things don't go swell. It ironic For the lakers to beat the supersonics completes a good day and that is ironic because a good day is not normal in the hood. Its ironic bc/ a good day in the hood is not a normal one, it is unexpected to have a prefect day while living in the ghetto You see people don't think living in the ghetto is fun but ice cube makes it sound fun and thats ironic. People usually don't have good days in the ghetto bc/ they are struggling and a day with no struggle is ironic in the ghetto. a good day is not commonly found in the ghetto and that is ironic do you understand? I still don't think it's ironic. Having a good day where good days are rare isn't ironic, it's maybe lucky or notable or such, but not ironic. Even if Cube normally has both weed and booze, it's not ironic his girl has one; again it's just lucky.
Anyway, I miss the days when Ice Cube brought out good albums and hadn't turned into "the Don Mega." |

It is a blurry distinction, mind, as words change meaning over time as you know and "incorrect" uses get incorporated into speech and dictionaries, and there has been a lot of debate over the meanings of "ironic". In my world, Ice Cube misused the word.

yeah, i know man. calm down. it's not irony. but in the mind of a complex black man, stoned on weed lots of things be ironic, like bitch got booze? nobody i know got killed? shit like that. it's closer to irony that alanis got. point 1 black people.

edit: Also, I noticed I got the lyric the wrong way round. Mr. Cube had the booze, his lay had the chronic. Imagine my embarrassment. Last edited by Elijah Moon : 10-03-2014 at 11:53 AM. |
