I think you're right that the person who actually distributed it on the web has done as much to contribute to the "problem" as the thieves, if that's what they actually are. But if you do that then you have to go after everybody and anybody who can be said to have disseminated it, which is totally unreasonable. I mean, I'm not even sure that part is technically criminal.

On the other hand, may I say that "unauthorized dissemination" would be a hilarious term for such a charge because it sounds dirty.

look, bands sell records based on image. this band will make millions of dollars in the next year alone. and this two criminals invaded and stole their pictures and leaked them on the net before the band could put this out in the proper context and at the right time. this could effect their buzz and tshirts/records, ticket sales.... could be thousands of dollars, some other band could rip them off. these people should spend jail time. especially if paris hilton who unlike these bastards is helping zeitgeist is.
