How I am fucking tired of that straightforward four-on-the-floor drum in EVERY FUCKING SINGLE SONG in 2000s.

i wonder if popular rock music in 4/4 will ever have a hit without snare strokes on 2 and 4

ever?

i mean there's been lots of songs with this beat the last few years (and before of course), but this is a bit exaggerated.

they're like "oh it's disco rhythm, and disco is gay and funny".

so this was funny, but not for fucking 10+ years.

i can't believe anyone was saying that grunge was repeating the same pattern. it sounds like Giuseppe Verdi compared to today's "we've got an overwhelming recording power with affordable studios that previous generations could only dream about, but still we play disco rhythms and use 808 drum machines with analogue synths".
