Yeah I agree with this, but I'd add Solara.

They'd be x1000000000 better if they had old school production.

I didn't find Alienation as bad as it was talked up and I am disapoint

the chorus is just a clunky nothing chorus

Billy's vocals are not that bad on this EP pretty surprising improvement he's like 85% of the way to sounding good, James and Jimmy sound excellent,

songwriting is subpar and predictable and the lyrics all blow donkey schlong

this is all really accurate

I just wish Jimmy was produced a bit better and it also feels like he hangs back on most of the songs

if the whole album were as good as James' solo on Knights, it would be a great album

never hated this song either, just thought it was bland

idk man I guess after some of the songs on ZG which are just so unpleasant to the ears and embarrassing enough to cringe one into a compressed ball, Run2Me is like an odorless fart

Solara has a good chorus (minus the lyrics of course)

but the verse is like lol 3 guitarists for this

Silvery Sometimes is kinda the only proper good song on the album

vocals on Marchin On bring it in the much missed nasal department though

I agree that “Rubber Soul” is not early Beatles and I would call “Help!” either the last early record or the first mature record.

I’ve never thought about how “Beatles for Sale” has its own mood and style. That’s really interesting and might enhance my appreciation of it. I’ve never been a huge fan of that one. I usually think of “A Hard Day’s Night” as the apex of early Beatles albums because it’s the only one with an all original tracklisting, it has a relatively large proportion of the early period’s definitive moments (the title track, “And I Love Her,” “Cant Buy Me Love”) and it has the best audio fidelity of an early Beatles album without sounding “produced” like “Beatles for Sale” starts to.

I rather listen to Run To Me or Alienation than listen to Knights Of Malta. I absolutely hate that song. The new songs just lack the urgency and momentum of their older material. I think it's their worst album ever. Marchin' On is decent, but not enough to save it. This is probably the blandest SP album ever. It just plods along. I go back even to their quieter, downtempo and acoustic material and the new stuff still isn't anywhere close. I hope they take the time on Part 2 to really work on it. To me, this one feels like a rush job where Billy pulled out some already practically finished leftover material and had Jimmy play the drums and James quickly lay some tiny bits of guitar on. Knock it quick before the tour.

Revolver is the overall strongest album in terms of songwriting, innovation, style, production and arrangements/orchestration. I agree.

They are great in different ways though.

White Album is the best in terms of being arguably THE definitive proto-hipster indie rock album.

Sgt Pepper is great for being a genre defining concept album.

Rubber Soul practically invented folk-rock.

Etc etc.

Let It Be kinda eats it though...the official version produced by Phil Spector anyway

Unlike some bands we discuss in this message board *ahem*...

The Beatles never released anything subpar. Every one of their albums is a defining moment in western 20th century pop, and rock music.

ya as far as compilations go that's one of the best - i'd picked it up from the library a few times when i was "heavy" into that kinda thing, but pretty good selection & it mighta been my introduction to "Rain" which is a golden tune

You're getting soft, young grasshopper.

Maybe you should go "wish upon a wishing tree" or go ride a rainbow or something, bro.
