Jellybelly for sure.

But Geek... I was thinking about this. While this is probably their best song they ever wrote, I don't know if they can really resurrect it without James and Darcy. Not because of talent, but because the last time they performed it live, it was with all four of them on stage, together, in the last show they did as a foursome. Would be weird to pull it out again without them, I think.

Yeah, Billy's changing the name of Zeitgeist to "OU-XYU". (Just a little Van Halen humor for any fans on the board)

Anyhow, I think the reason why we're looking at Ginger and Jeff in the new SP, and not Melissa and James, is because Billy and Jimmy probably decided they want the band together for keeps this time, and want a lineup specially tailored for longevity. No bad blood between members = another 12 years of SP.

Personally, I can deal with the concept of this being a new era of SP. I hope the musicianship of the two new members exceeds that of James and D'arcy/Melissa so that the band can do things we've never heard them do before.

This is a great way to look at it, for anyone uncomfortable with the new people.

If the original 4 did get together, what would be the chances of them making more than one album? Signifigantly less, for sure.

It's an interesting point, yes, but consider this: how long before Billy becomes irritated with playing with people he doesn't know?

I think Billy struck gold with Melissa in that he was able to develop a friendship with her. But really, it was kind of lucky that it happened that way. Billy seems like he gets pretty pissed off when the stage dynamic isn't right. Right now, he has not one, but TWO new people to get his sharp personality to mesh with. the odds are against them, I think. If it works, awesome. The keyword, though, is "if."

I'm going to bed, too.

Man, what a day. It starts with me getting a phone call from Paris, and it ends with me checking and re-checking for updates in the 25+ page thread that stems from it, lol.

I seriously can't wait until I get to see them live again. As if the anticipation for the new album was hard enough...

That's assuming Jeff and Ginger don't get tired of Billy's personality.

One last thing before I go to bed...

I actually talked to Linda Strawberry about a week ago. She said that she would love to have been at the show, but she was swamped with her solo material she's working on. She also said she thought the whole artwork theft thing was terrible, and that she was sure Billy would "handle it."

Just FYI.

Alright, peace out.

Well, I'm hoping that if what I said is indeed the truth, Billy and Jimmy had the foresight to pick people that seem to be easy to get along with. Billy's probably not abrasive as long as you're doing what needs to be done in the band, and not being an asshole about it. He probably picked the people who seemed the most able to buckle down, play the parts he wrote for them, and just enjoy themselves onstage.

haven't heard an appropriate boot yet, but from the clips it just didn't come across as a huge bang of a comback.. kinda like bill and jim were into it but the other three were pretty nervous and unsure. but we'll see how that all turns out.

I find it weird that they are still playing BWBW the machina way, watching this kinda feels like the past 7 years didn't happen and they are just playing another show from the 2000 tour.

For those dogging on the enthusiasm level...

First of all, Jeff is from a SHOEGAZE band. Do you realize that the genre got its name because the performers were like statues onstage, staring at their feet (pedals)? Jeff is never going to rock out on stage. Don't expect anything besides good tones.

Ginger seemed into it from the vids I saw, and her backup vox were good.

james only ever looked confused at best. he tried to rock out, but just got more angular... his right arm always stuck out funny and walked around like a big dick was up his ass...

Billy's gotten really good at marketing, he's made sure that we have to pay if we ever want to hear him scream again.
