Default Let's go around the table (fucking hell). I am thankful for...

...my awesome wife and daughter. I am thankful for other things, too. But they are really just the best. Man oh man.

Ok, your turn.

omg me too

I was having a horrendous migraine crisis last night then I read that salt makes migraine go away, and it really does.

I was almost going to the hospital.

Salt alleviates my pereodontitis.

Roman soldiers were paid in salt. Think about that.

The word "salary" comes from the Latin word for salt. The reason for this is unknown; a persistent modern claim that the Roman Legions were sometimes paid in salt is baseless.

well salt did used to be a lot rarer and very valuable. entire world-altering trade routes were based on salt in ancient times. Imagine a world where the only thing to eat is food from northwestern Europe and you don't even have any spices. gah

A very iconic march took place in India under Gandhi because of the tax law imposed by the British colonizers there. A lot of people walked ~240 miles to go to the shore of Dandi, just to make some salt. Pretty important point in the history of India. And it makes sense too. You can't tax people on a commodity as common as salt. The march is now famously known as the Dandi March.
