That's kinda bullshit. How do you know any or all of the other songs aren't riffs that Billy has just been sitting on since the 90s. Just because there aren't recordings of them doesn't mean they didn't exist in some form. Just how he keeps note cards with lyric ideas as well.

Well I don't know about them all, but I sure as fuck know about this one, and it's from 2000.

When you look at the definition of "since" as a conjunction, I don't think it includes its object in the time frame. But it's unclear. I.e. "Billy was great in 2000, but what has he done since then?"

Riverview as played on during the BBC session closely followed by El-A-Noy.

TBH he was on form with a lot of Djali Zwan songs. Just a shame we'll never hear them again.

The Empty Sea (just about SP1 quality, in my opinion) and A New Poetry are fighting for the top spot for me.

Mary Star of the Sea for best rocker

And who can listen to My Life and Times without smiling

I forgot about that one. That song retains that kind of intimate magic his acoustic pieces used to have, in the vein of Medellia, Soothe, Purr Snickety... warm, lonely, beautiful sound.

The songs he wrote after Zeitgeist were really good I believe (No Surrender, If All Goes Wrong, Peace + Love, etc...). TBK is really the wrost thing Billy done in his career.

I'd have to dig through the old Zwan stuff but as others have said Empty Sea and New poetry are up there. Nothing after Zwan though, there have been brief glimmers of hope but nothing coming close to that stuff.

I still can't fathom how any of you think that Chrysanthemum is something good. It's one of the worst song's he's ever fucking written. The lyrics are atrocious, and it sounds like some terrible cross between immature skater rock and shallow garbage. And I don't mean Garbage, but like, trash. If he released that song for Teargarden, you'd all be tearing him apart for it. The only reason anyone ever clapped for it back in 2001 was because it was Billy on stage for the first time after the Pumpkins broke up.

That aside,

I'd say some of his best song-writing since 2000 is:

-Mary Star of the Sea(without the Jesus, I half)

-Now and Then

-Walking Shade

-Tilt

-TheCameraEye

-7 Shades of Black(some of the best, most creative lyrics he's ever written)

-Pomp + Circumstances(for its lyrics, mostly)

i will agree that the fanboys/girls were super into that song in the initial glass house video because yes, it was their rock hero returning again.

that said - i think chrysanthemum is a really exciting song to listen to. it seems like billy was actually into it for once in the past 10 years. i feel like this, along with stuff like a new poetry and other early zwan, would have been a great sound for billy to build the pumpkins "rebirth" on, instead of fake-me-out goth metal or whatever the fuck zeitgeist was.

Permanence
Never Give Up
Tilt
Glorious
A100
Mina Loy
Bit 5
No Surrender
Cast a Stone
Lost in the Woods
Peace + Love
The Empty Sea
My Life + Times

If those songs were recorded and produced properly, it could be an album like Gish 2 or something like that.

Someone should make one of those polls where you drag the songs you like to the top that we can all vote on. I think we had one for the epic Zeitgeist 15 week poll.
