Talking Favorite SP Solo

I'm gonna say Bury Me, just to throw that out there - the way it switches to an Indian scale, definitely up there with the finer moments. Tristessa also kicks ass

The end of Hummer.
It's so simple and yet so genious. Amazing!

Those are all good, but I think they pale in comparison with the one from By Starlight on 1/8/97. You can't get much better than having Billy and James battle it out for minutes straight, yet having it sound completely seamless.

The solo in Drown simply makes the song.

And I listened to the Gravity demos today and reaffirmed my position that the solo in The Groover is fantastic.

The outro in Mouths of Babes (Gravity demos), and the intro solo in Hummer.

Cool

I thought this would be the first and most repetative but Geek USA the solo rocks harder than any other

Is it just me, or is anyone else NOT able to find the clip of Groover from Pastichio Medley in the actual song?

It's really maddening.

Heh. It's a different take man, the clip is *not* in the GD version.

Yeah. And I think it's partially because Billy gave himself such an interesting backing track to play off of with that solo; instead of just a bunch of chords, it's and E chord, an octave lick, another little lick with a Dsus chord and a variation, then a couple notes played against an open A string, which leads back to the E chord. The drone A stuff gives a lot of space for held/bent notes that give a sort of "hanging out there" quality to the thing, it's got a sort of rise and fall dynamic. And then that final climb up to the heavy prechorus -- man, that's good stuff.
