Still incredible to read in the same Rolling Stone-interview what fucked up tension has happened now again, thanks to Corgan :

Corgan is thrilled they are finally all on good terms after years of talking primarily through the press. "Communicating solely through the fog of media is obviously not the best way to communicate in the era of fake news," Corgan says with a laugh. "Often times I would try to explain to people that the issues were more familial than they were musical. People just don't believe you. Maybe because they don't want to since it's not as interesting."

He blames the tension that ultimately erupted in the band to their relentless work schedule in the 1990s. "We were in a pressure cooker for 13, 14 years," he says. "We were literally together almost non-stop for a long time. We did a lot of work and we put ourselves through some crazy shit. When the family thing broke, it was one of those things like, 'Hey, have you talked to your cousin?' 'Eh, I love him, but you know, whatever.' So it was like that for a long time, and now that that's over, and the family thing is resolved, it's awesome."

That doesn't mean a reunion tour of any sort is anywhere near a definite thing.

iha plays guitar, he plays sustained droning chords and makes the volume swell after he hits the strings, so you only get the sustaining sound, like a keyboard. then he feeds that into delay pedals and reverb, etc and compressors. it's playing guitar in order to sound like a keyboard. the type of stylistic touch that's always been his trademark (besides boning d'arcy).

-in response to "Nobody wants to fucken know what's the engine under the car hood?"

Why fucking around with sustain and reverb blabla. Plug in a keyboard put a reverb on and it sounds exactly the same.

The man has no backbone. If you're gonna talk shit and make a whole thing about going back to your "real" name because whatever pretensious bullshit reason he had, at least fucking STICK WITH IT. Don't back down after 1 pathetic year.

On the name change and new album in this weeks Big Issue

Quote:
Your solo album, Ogilala, was originally released under your full name, William Patrick Corgan, but it's now listed on the music streaming services under Billy Corgan?

What I found is that nobody wants to buy an album by "William Patrick Corgan", nobody. I had to do the pragmatic thing and rebrand. I'm not completely happy about it but this is my job and I've got bills to pay like anyone else.

And do people want to buy an album by "Billy Corgan"?

No, not really. No. I think people associate "Billy Corgan" too closely with The Smashing Pumpkins and all of the groundbreaking, genre defining songs that I've written and performed as part of the band so a solo album isn't an easy sell. People think "well ok, he's perhaps the best song writer of all time but only in the context of the Smashing Pumpkins, as a solo artist he's largely unproven so I wont buy this album even though it could well be man-kinds greatest artistic achievement", my friends have actually said that. Actually, the best brand I've got is just sitting in can at home - William Corgan. I have some great friends who are always very honest and objective about my work and career who tell me it's the most beautiful and marketable name they've ever heard.

It sounds exciting. When are we going to hear it?

I'm in talks with NASA about launching it or broadcasting it into space. I think they've been sending our history up and our DNA so they're looking for something a bit more important and relevant. Using some of my work definitely makes sense and it's great opportunity for them. So we're talking about that and there might be an exclusivity period, I really don't know yet. I think a lot of people will want to go up into space so that they can here this thing so I'm talking to Tesla about that.

If you're referring to the Spotify name-change, he did that shortly after the album originally came out. Which makes it even worse, I guess.

I prefer incubator-Corgan over the real word salad.

Year I think it lasted like a month. As soon as he realized no one could find his album on iTunes or Spotify he fixed it.
