i'd actually prefer to have a closer shirt, if nothing else because "everyone & their grandma" wears the u.p. thing to anything even remotely "goth" or "post-punk" related

my favorite release from 'em in general might be substance tho :x

Obviously I worship JD but those are pretty meh songs imo

I never have a desire to listen to them.

Where as She's Lost Control, Insight, New Dawn Fades, and Shadowplay are better than most of Closer probably

I just find the whole album experience is more fleshed out with Closer while Unknown Pleasures gets the better artwork and singles

I think UP is more popular because (serious reasons):
* It's more guitar based, so it's more grounded in a basic rock band foundation.
* It was released while the band was active, and while Ian Curtis was alive. At the time, people would be familiar with the songs while the band and Ian could perform them live and discuss them. It still seemed that the band "had a future"
* The album cover is iconic, one of the most iconic album covers ever, in fact. Closer's album cover doesn't lend itself to the same kind of cultural exposure. Or T-shirts.

I like Closer more because it gets even darker and atmospheric than UP. It also has Twenty Four Hours. I always get chills down my spine when I hear "Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way. Destiny unfolded, I watched it slip away".

I used to have a Closer shirt but that was when I was all weighty; now that I'm skin n bones, it looks ridiculous on me.

Probably gonna take all my old XL band shirts (the ones I saved anyway) and make a quilt/blanket with them. There are people who do that!
