All made out of the same few chords (C D G E Am Em)

So
You can't really quantify how diverse a punk band is by what rhythm chords they use. And I don't think how a song is structured really reflects upon the diversity of the sound of an artist.

And besides, I don't really see how NOFX is relative to the criticisms of Silversun Pickups...

If you took the time to read it you'll see that Johnny started the discussion turn... But thanks for coming out

It's as if a fan of NOFX can't have a discussion about other types of music without their fandom for the group being thrown back in their face

It's mostly just when you admonish other bands for being generic or uninspired or unoriginal or insincere or dismiss them as being marketed garbage that people only like when they're told to when those are clearly all hallmarks of NOFX/Other trash you enjoy.

again I point to the difference between "I don't really like this band they don't do much for me" and "this band is milking the same formula over and over again and not moving forward"

Dude, you came into a conversation with a bunch of people excited about this bands release and you said: "god this band is so dull"

Not trying to cut you down, as I'm all for speaking your mind- but you do the same thing you get mad at me for... Most of us do. You just only bring it up when I'm discussing music for some reason.

It's because you're a philistine and I find it deeply amusing when you try to pass judgement on anything of any real substance.

and you will, every time, without fail, take the bait and do something outrageously funny like lecture me with examples about the diversity of NOFX. EVERY TIME. You're like a canadian jack-in-the-box.

I really enjoy Pikul, Carnavas and Swoon but Neck of the woods was pretty boring aside from Bloody Mary. I don't really care much for the two new songs but I won't judge until I hear the album.

This is also what the joke is about fuzzy to me

It's not that he has elitist type opinions it's that he's trying to be elitist about NOFX and Green Day

it takes two people to bicker and you sound like a dickhead

like i said, your opinions are primarily motivated by bitterness. you resent "blogger bands" because no blog ever took any interest in Monkey Piss. You're also bitter about how the goalposts for "cool" moved from the grunge aesthetic on to something you are uncomfortable and unfamiliar with.

I have a friend who is like fuzzy except about R&B music. He's a total music snob. He doesn't like all this new alternative R&B stuff and R&B singers who also rap. He is constantly telling me about how R&B should go back to being about musicians playing real instruments instead of just the fad of electronic infused soul music. He also doesn't like the current trend of R&B singers who also rap. He much prefers neo soul. But it's not just a personal preference for him. He feels like he speaks for everyone and that this new type of R&B just shouldn't exist anymore. He can be such an asshole sometimes.

Listened to Swoon at the gym today. It's not as much of a step down from Carnavas as I remembered. I think the production on their first was a little more tasty though.
