Default One and all- Best BC Alt-Rock song since MACHINA

seriously... I wonder to my self why this song isn't held in higher regard around the fan community. It's actually produced in a way were his vocals are presented in a similar fashion as they were on SD and MCIS... It's as highly sung a Corgan vocal take as you'll find in this decade...

And the guitars... Ripping, signature distortion... Really nice mix....

Tommy Lee, really fun rocking drum track...

It's really on par with the lesser work done by the OG Pumpkins... If this song was a B-side on TAFH people would consider it a choice cut...

Exactly. It sounds like a B-side.

There's a live version with Jimmy somewhere that is actually decent.

Lol... I know... Along with "Run2Me" and the atrocious "Anti-Hero" "One and All" is easily one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

It's actually one of the few times in recent memory where the simplicity doesn't bother me. It's wrangled off in an interesting manner and has a more complex chorus that follows.

ehhhh... sure, not my finest work. But for all the thrill surrounding Ogilala, I started to wonder why Monuments wasn't held in higher regard. To me it's clearly the superior work.

I guess people are just a sucker for the faux-earnest Corgan shtick.

It just sounds like it has all the elements a classic pumpkins rock song would have, but it pales in comparison.

I could say the same thing for almost every track on that album. That's why I only like Anaise! and maybe Drum + Fife.

Spilled Milk and As Rome Burns are way better than this one

It was the best BC alt-rock song since Oceania.

Sure, it's no Zero or Bullet With Butterfly Wings but it's one of the best alt-rock showings he's released since 2000. As far as production goes, it's actually in some ways better than the muddied showings on Machina. Really, it just goes to show how far some decent production goes in elevating Billy's songs... And in that regard, One and All has been something of an enigma (at least as far as the material in the 00's goes)... Especially considering how the vocals are so front and center again on the new album.

I'm not actually bothered by the production on Monuments. Tbh I think it was good enough on most of the songs, it's just that Monuments sounds like Billy is trying to prove he can still make music that sounds like his previous work but failed miserably. All the elements are there, the genius and spirit are not.

Yeah, overall it's not a very good album but One and All is a strong track. Anti-Hero is grossly underrated too. I assume it's the "never been kissed by a girl like you" part that people can't get passed.

"Run2Me" is pretty well universally hated... "One and All" superficially sounds like a good song but does burn pretty fast as there's no substance and the lyric is a complete embarrassment.

"Anti-Hero" is probably the worst song ever written and recorded in the history of Western Civilization. I can't believe how that garbage was presented without Billy just being laughed out of the studio by Tommy, Howard and Jeff.

monuments is a cynical record and almost completely throw-away garbage. sure the guitars sound pretty good. but there is absolutely no passion, no songcraft, no emotion

Billy specifically said Monuments was written to sound like "what people only think the Pumpkins sound like" or something and in that respect I think it's the only part of the album that worked. It's all surface noise designed to sound nostalgic with nothing to back it up. Shallow and hollow. It's Billy's nadir as an artist and I'm really not surprised that its utter failure got him to start rethinking everything.

I'd have an easier time finding more to enjoy off any given Teargarden track.

You can call me a shadowy or shady toilet too, the possibilities are endless
