Yeah, Babymetal sure is gimmicky, that was a turn off when I first heard it.
But, the talent involved both from the backing band and the three girls is so insane that it makes up for the silly premise.
Also, the songs are pretty damn good and catchy.

No, I know what a gimmick is. You just failed to comprehend the rest of my post. It's alright.

you said the gimmick turned you off at first but then the gimmick won you over

being a well executed gimmick doesn't make a gimmick any less of a fucking gimmick

No, I said that the gimmick turned me off at first but the songs themselves and how good the musicians are eventually won me over.

And I never said it's not a gimmick, I said it's really well executed.

again, you apparently don't know what a gimmick is

but you do like a lot of gimmicky trash so it's not surprising you feel this way

plus 10 internet points for a cheap shot at me

No, I just don't dismiss bands based on anything but the music. If I like the music I like the band gimmick or not, it's simple.

"a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use."

i can vouch for the gimmick thing, but where i would normally find worth in a band's work or whatev i haven't quite found that with baby metal just yet!

then again i'm not really a "j-pop enthusiast" to say the least so that's kinda half the battle right there

Yeah, it's not for everyone. It is a very strange mix for sure.

But this group is bringing Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica and Cannibal Corpse influences to the super manufactured pop world in japan which is pretty insane.

Pallbearer Foindations of Burden; fucken rad but doesn't sound2good in the car: too low. Popped it out and stuck in Future Islands Singles. Dug the catchiness now starting to feel the radness in some textures but still overall vaguely irritating. Meaning it could end up one of my favorite albums.

couldn't find it in 320, but it sounds pretty damn great nontheless
correction - it's there in 320, too. at least the description on kicking your butt says it.
