When I was 14 I listened to the soundtrack from The Crow a lot and put that TAAHAAHM TO TAKE HER HOME HER WEAAARY HEAAD tune on a mix CD for a girl and she didn't let me hold her hand after that

much is made about the sex pistols being "assembled" by the record executive but Sid Viscous was the only one added and it was at the suggestion of the record exec and endorsed by Johnny Rotten to cause maximum hysteria, which was his ultimate goal. They weren't the first or the best punk band but they were the lightning rod for controversy and subversion and that's what the initial punk movement was all about. STP is just a bunch of copycats that rode the grunge wave.

I won't bother with trying to figure out who the first punk band was, I might even consider it to be The Stooges, but the best one was WIRE.
