I seriously envy the person who gets my mix. I have never put this much effort into a mixtape before. I've reworked and reordered it like 5 or 6 times now, it's changed heaps since the original one i had. Hands down my favourite mix i've ever made for anyone, including myself, ever.

And yes i know we're supposed to wait until we know who we're getting and check out what they listen to but fuck it. I might make slight alterations if i think something's gonna be too obvious/too inaccessible for somebody based on their tastes but i'm gonna stick to my guns for most of it.

you know the chances of your recipient being really into various styles of extreme metal are relatively low on this board right

You're lucky. I was just about to start my highly elaborate method for picking who is making what for who.

Good thing I have another scrap of paper to toss into the hat or you'd be shit out of luck, buster.

the fact that people do that only shows how egocentric / limited they are

Well if your take is to curb it for your partner fair enough. Personally I feel that I can make a better mix from music I like and know well, perhaps open the mind of the listener to appreciate it in the context whether they have heard the music before or not. Limited? retarded comment. There are no specifications on this, which is why it's good.

I care little to argue with you though, do it how you want.

the whole point of this exercise is to introduce people to new music.

No that's not just the point, it's also about making a good mix for people to listen to and appreciate whether they have heard the music or not. Some people might tailor their mix around someones taste, ok fine, I'd rather not get that, I'd rather get something someone spent some time arranging. I doubt people are going to listen to everything I do and vice versa.

I would like to hear new music, but it is important the mix has a soul no?

i'm not partaking in this, my music taste has reached spectacular heights that no one here would even come close to. this also has a lot to do with my intelligence compared to that of everyone else on netphoria.
