last one i heard was the high end of low

i liked it though, don't know what i'd think of it today but i haven't even really heard any of the other full-length albums aside from mechanical animals a coupla times (main exposure was the Lest we Be Damned or whatever it was called "greatest hits")

been meaning to check in with the guy. last time i did he was a rambling drunken nutjob. Is he still living in a bad neighborhood above a liquor store?

The last I had checked in on him, in 2012, he had been living for two years in an apartment over top of a liquor store in west hollywood. this was after crawling out of the complete downward spiral of his life and home for three years in the hollywood hills after his 2007-ish divorce from dita

so the timeline is like

2007-2010: goes completely over the edge insane and totally bottoms out on drugs (eat me drink me/high end of low)
2010-2012: moves into a cheap apartment and starts smoking weed (born villian)

i do kinda like this song. honestly haven't listened to a complete album since mechanical animals. i loved mechanical animals when it came out. Can't remember if it got a bunch of backlash or not, but I'm thinking it did at the time.

as a matter of fact, that was his intention with all of the studio lights. he truly was having a mental breakdown. while he was bottoming out and experiencing cocaine and alcohol psychosis, he started experiencing disparities between his personal life and his professional life, so he started treating his personal life (in this case his bedroom) as if it were a stage or a set. he had cameras and lights and recording equipment - the whole nine yards.

Mechanical Animals is a post-punk masterpiece but my enjoyment of every thing else is kinda hit and miss. This song is alright I think

yea, i haven't done the recent research yet but it could be about the past but on the other hand with his burned out memory i would put my money on it's a recent thing.

pretty much all of his records for the past 10 years have started with a giant pile of cocaine

billy and manson were supposed to work together but instead they just took a bunch of drugs and we got mechanical animals and then adore a year later.

instead of recording the followup to downward spiral, trent worked on mansons antichrist superstar instead.

i always found it interesting how manson managed to sideline two huge careers with his own albums.
