yeah that's lame

just let people record the set. it's not like it's their big arena stage setup + special effects (even though that shit is dumb)

_______________

So tickets are $19.79 and are cash only? I get the joke but don't make the cashiers hand out 21 cents 300 times

Because even the fun stuff like secret shows has to be lamed up somehow.

I thought people who recorded shows on their phones were the lame ones? Honestly, who cares if you can't take the phone out

Flashback (2007):

Quote:
The Live Music Archive also provides a statement why it is allowed to record and trade Smashing Pumpkins live music: “Smashing Pumpkins Taping Policy June 2007: “a clear declaration of our new open-source taping policy…everyone is welcome to tape at our shows in whatever capacity they see fit…anyone is welcome and invited to document using audio, video, or picture cameras (cell phones are welcome)…although we do reserve the right to refuse anyone at anytime (especially if we feel the reason for recording is not for entirely altruistic)”.”

Sounds like someone's going to have to with the old taper trick of swallowing your recording equipment and shitting it out on the concert floor

I wonder how thorough the security checks are gonna be. Certainly places you could hide a mic on your body

That Yondr shit is actually even dumber because now people have to wait in lines to get them opened and return them before leaving

With Live Nation involved I highly doubt any taping policy from 2007 still stands.

From the sound of it, hearing the hits performed verbatim to the album renditions isn't the most exciting show in the world to record anyway

This might be the most interesting show of the tour though, if it's a small show and may allow for some variation

Pretty lame how this offer is impossible for me, a Portuguese citizen with three kids who needs photographic evidence I was at a gathering in order to feel something about it later, to participate in.

i agree. my wife is going to stand in line for me, if she is able to get a wristband i'll be pretty excited to see how the show turns out having seem them last in the orange peel but this time Iha will be there. Oddly enough a couple weeks ago i took my wife to a restaurant and on the way in, James Iha was coming out with his wife

Being this will be the first show, maybe they will put some spirit into it

I am pretty interested to see what the setlist is going to look like, as it will probably be most of what we're going to see all summer. The first few songs are going to be pretty fun, but there is a pretty good chance they open up with Solara and ruin it though. Or some other facepalm Heavy Metal Machine opener..

there's also a really big chance this show will be cool af, and the band will play really good songs, deep cuts, etc. there's a few problems though:

1) billed as reunion with no d'arcy (no integrity)
2) BC's personality (zero integrity)
3) it's roughly 10 years too late
4) it's only about the money (no integrity)
5) i have different priorities (i'm old)

seriously, this isn't why i fell in love with the band in the 90s. stating the obvious, but i'm so over this band, and i was a diehard fan until about january of this year. for those who do go, i hope they enjoy the show and have a great time. for those onstage, i hope they get a nice feeling of camaraderie again. i hope everyone is transported to 199X again and can tap into some emotional connection of their youth. i hope they rock hard, everyone has fun, and the music is "cool". more power to 'em

Update: KROQ only had 60 tickets to give out, which were all claimed by people who were given early bird stickers before 11am. Despite the no line ups before 1 thing. So the roughly 400 people in line are now either entering a raffle or dispersing. Nobody has made any sort of announcement nor was anyone advised not to keep lining up.

Yep. I can't believe this bullshit. I feel like an ass for asking my wife to stand in line for an hour and it's hot as shit out and they had 60 tickets. The troub fits like 500 people, who the fuck has the rest of the tickets? Fuckin A man

It’s 80 degrees. Not terrible. But I think the point the person was making is that the lines were pointless and only for show, so there was no reason for anyone to be outside in the first place.
