it's only showing on about 400 screens nationwide. the AMC 30 in olathe and the rio in overland park would be my two options and the AMC 30 is much closer and has better seating. i drive to KC for movies all the time. i went to olathe twice this week to watch a movie already actually.

Anyone heard anything by Boris Police Band? I came across them in the allmusic review of No New York. Can't find any info regarding any of their recordings. They used police radio calls for vocals!

Has anyone heard Grey, Vincent Gallo and Basquiat's supposedly no-wave band. I would imagine it's probably terrible but I would be interested to hear nonetheless.

i picked up two hi sheriffs of blue records the other day.
some of those bands wouldn't fit my definition of no wave cause it was a regional movement but it's a good comp nonetheless |

btw we haven't even mentioned rhys chatham yet, whose early work even reminds me of birchville cat motel and that kind of droney noise sometimes
totally cool that something like that existed in the early 80s |

that book looks pretty cool; i'll have to czech it out...
as far as james chance goes there's a lot of his stuff that i don't really dig...it's almost as if it's too funky... and also i'm surprised no one's mentioned alan vega or suicide I'd put at least their first rehearsal tapes (disc two of the 2nd album - produced by Ric Ocasek! - CD release) if not their first album in a no wave contest. (My fav song has always been "Radiation") |
