Default Favorite live distortion tone?

When the loud part in Mayonaise first hits on 8/14/93 holy fucking shit

esp like the change between the 2244 chord and the 466 chord. gets so much deeper and rawer

yeah in terms of original lineup era or whatev, MCIS is hard to beat

a lot of his lead tones in the Zeit era were pretty sweet as well, tbh

not sure at what point in the tour he started doing this, but during certain passages in certain songs, bill’d switch to a patch that gave it extra squeeze/cut.

gm place, where boys fear to tread, descending riff (3-2-1-1-0-1–1-0-1) is a great example

Billy's Machina live tone(in person) changed my outlook on tone. That's why i bought his amp after 17 years of waiting. I never found a perfect recording of it on any live video but the closest to what i heard from the front row is the Utrecht, NL show.
It's low output pickups into a jacked gain Diezel. I prefer higher output and the gain down some but it's fun to tinker with every once in a while.

His 1993-96’ JMP-1 rig was the best. His tones have never been as good since.

Fmaj7(9)(13)

or

Fmaj7(add6)(add9)

or

Fmaj9(add6)

or

Fmaj9(13)

You could add (no 3) to any of those notations as well if you want to be super specific since technically there is no third in that voicing.

So, for example:

Fmaj9(add6)(no 3)

Honestly though I would just think of it it as “F” with open strings and color tones from the major scale thrown in there .

ya i've got a lot of chords i use fairly regularly that i usually just refer to as "that weird F chord" or whatev

from what you just posted above, it looks like i may just be continuing to call them that

That’s a pretty one. I love those kinds of chords.

8x9070 is another fave of mine

or

8x9080

I honestly just think of it as “C” even though technically I know there’s extra notes.

“Keep it simple, stupid” as the recovering alcoholics say.

It’d be WAY easier and more accurate to call this Cadd9/F.
