This is laughably bad. Lol.

The riffs sound like bad castoffs from MCIS sessions. And the vocals just sound like pure shit. I'm not knowledgeable of recording stuff but they sound completely removed from the rest of the track and totally bored. The vocals sounds like a rehearsal take.

Also the song doesn't go anywhere. It pretty much just mopes along, upping the BPM's a bit would have helped the energy. So lethargic.

You guys should start your own Pumpkins band, do it the way you want it to sound.

I'm glad I didn't listen to the live version, I don't think there's anything wrong with the tempo at all.

I think it's a decent pop-rock tune and a nice album opener.

Doesn't compare to Zero.

Higher BPM would've definently helped.

Did Jimmy buy a snare from Lars on the break?

Overall it sounds good but not great, I think I'm little to nostalgic and expectant of brilliance to ever be stunned again. Post bridge section is pretty cool though - "Is everyone afraid..."

As much as I like the live version I was just as happy with the studio version once I got used to it. Very cool song. I had my headphones on in the kitchen and shat myself when the vocal harmonies kicked in. Yeah, thanks Billy!

the chorus isn't as bad when you hear the whole song. that is to say it doesn't make me laugh now. thankfully there's a wonderful nu-metal breakdown to take care of that. boring, lazy songwriting. it's so incredibly made for radio. i can't believe billy got so unambitious. the vocals sound like an ass. like ravenguy said, the guitars sound like a demo that wasn't interesting enough be in-cluded in pastichio medley. i like jimmy's drumming in the chorus

Oh wow, that sound verges on unlistenable.

I'm shocked at how bad this song is.

That's an incredible endorsement right there.

Just what I want from a Smashing Pumpkins song, "decent" and "nice."

I didn't expect much more, to be honest. After all, Zwan and the solo album were merely okay, too. I'm still looking forward to Zeitgeist, very much so.

All you can do now is wait for the rereleases of Gish, SD and MCIS Sonic Youth style.

that's because billy used to set highest fucking standard of anyone. sure it could be worse, but why not listen to something that is great instead of buying it out of habit just because it says 'smashing pumpkins' on it?

I'd describe it more as being bland, uninspiring and mediocre over bad, i thinking calling it "laughably bad" is a bit of exaggeration.

Sounds like Billy recorded the vocals whilst laying back on a recliner, stroking one, or more, of his cats.
