Default Smashing Pumpkins-New Tour Dates

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS ANNOUNCE FIRST SHOW SINCE 2000 AT THE HISTORIC GRAND REX IN PARIS

BAND TO UNVEIL SONGS FROM UPCOMING ALBUM 'ZEITGEIST'

THE SMASHING PUMPKINS are excited to announce their first live performance since December 2, 2000 - a very special and intimate theatre show to take place May 22 in Paris, France at the historic and elegantly appointed Grand Rex. Tickets will go on sale April 11.

This marks the first time The Smashing Pumpkins will unveil songs from the upcoming ZEITGEIST (Martha's Music/Reprise), their sixth album and first of new material since 2000's Machina/The Machines of God and the free, digital-only release Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music. ZEITGEIST was produced by Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, with Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date working separately on various tracks, and represents the culmination of two years of work.

After the Paris show, The Smashing Pumpkins will headline major European festivals from May 28 at Holland’s Pinkpop festival through June 17 at Switzerland’s Greenfield Festival, returning to England August 24 (Leeds Festival) and August 26 (Reading Festival). Stay tuned for more information about North American tour dates beyond the V Festivals confirmed in Washington, DC (August 5) and Toronto, ONT (September 8).

Maybe they're trying to make it seem better than it is.

Although the Pimlico venue is pretty cool as far as these things go.

Holy smokes. This is the first time we've got an email from the SP mailing list isn't it? They're finally pulling their finger out and getting the ball rolling.

nice to get an announcement of dates for this band, but I'm utterly disappointed that it doesn't say who are the Smashing Pumpkins.

What if the Smashing Pumpkins = Jimmy and Billy? And then random touring people...that would be......weird?

This is kinda interesting. I think we all expected Billy to get a producer credit like always, but it sounds here like he and Jimmy are the primary producers and that RTB and Date just helped out. Thats news to me.

IMHO it's the only way they could have worded that sentence to get across that the RTB songs were separate to the Date songs.

Just rearranging the sentence brings this:

ZEITGEIST was produced by Roy Thomas Baker and Terry Date working separately on various tracks, with Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin, and represents the culmination of two years of work.

Which makes little grammatical sense.

This would make perfect sense though, considering that audio engineer's rant, and the little whispers that we heard about them working alone in the studio, etc. A producer does not always need to be an engineer... a producer just has to be someone with a vision as to where the record can go, and it's not even their job to know how to get there - that's the engineer's job. "I want it to sound like it's inside an orange".... and so the engineer works out the best way to do that.

Two years work? Lots of pressure on those boys. They better produce a masterpiece or it's going to be the greatest disaster since Ishtar.
