Jay: "Why is this the last performance? Why are you guys breaking up?"

Thumbs up

Jimmy's Love Letters .2

Greetings and salutations! Its been a hectic week for JC as we have been tracking drums non stop. Things are sounding fantastic. Tracking drums is a bit like going to another planet for four or five or nine minutes. We recently finished up working with Roy Thomas Baker, (Queen, The Cars!), Working with RTB was not only an honor, but also one of the best musical experiences we have ever had. We are currently working with Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden!) and that is going great as well. The universe has a way of letting you know that things are right by introducing people like RTB and Terry into the fold. It..s all part of one big cosmic journey, in so that everyone reading this is hitching their silver chord to the Great Pumpkin Space Train! Hope this helps clear some things up for you. Don't forget to cast your eyes skyward this weekend.... You may see a shooting star. Love JC

Dav-dav, do you think that TFE is badly mixed or mastered?

I think Billy learnt his lesson with MSOTS.

Sounds like a fucking mess to me. Baker brings his Darkness-like shit to the table and then this guy fucks with it trying to make it metal.

So crazy it might just be album of the century...................or a complete fuck up, which is actually much more likely. Oh well.

Wrong, Terry will not be doing anything to anything RTB did. Jimmy said they are tracking drums. That is done FIRST...which means whatever they are recording with Terry Date is starting from scratch.

Deege is probably right, though. RTB probably came in as a "song doctor" as I've said before.

Pete - check out RTB's OTHER credits first before you call him shit.

I mean, think of the timeline thus far, compared to the 'usual' method of recording albums...

Songwriting and rehearsal with 'the band'

Preparing to record = Preproduction demos with RTB - songs roughed out, drums and one guitar

Recording final drum tracks with Terry Date

Still left to do: Guitars, Bass, Vocals, Keys(?), in no particular order

Mixing and Mastering - and hope Howie Weinberg doesn't get his hands on it.

But, at this rate, definitely expect a 2007 release (or later).

If they're going to be working with many different people, as is the style recently, then I would LOVE for them to get Andy Wallace to mix it. But I'd be happy for Terry to mix it too - I had no idea he did Incubus's S.C.I.E.N.C.E until the other day, and I love the way that record sounds.
Brendo -- you make some good points.

maybe billy is going to bring in a different type of producer to accent SP's many sounds and many strengths.

Terry Date for the heavy stuff, RTB for the psychadelic grandiose stuff, and who knows whats next. maybe Billy will produce some electronica tracks himself...or bring in VIg to do some grungier tracks. all just sepeculation of course, but you never know...my point is, Terry may not be the last producer to sign on.

Can't help but thinking though, that multiple producers will make it harder for the new album to have a cohesive sound.

And of course, the elephant in the room......perhaps RTB quit or couldn't work with Billy...and none of this was planned.

It's not unlikely that this is happening all over again. (Cfr. the confessions about the recording of Adore.)

As long as the tracks are all mastered by the same guy it will come up fine. Mellon Collie is a bit of a mishmash as well, remember.

I'm pretty psyched about Date being on board. I just hope it means we'll get decent production this time.

It seems like JC's back on drugs. Either that or Bolly's writing these posts.

Still, they're a step in the right direction as far as concrete info is concerned.

An album full of Cupid de Locke-esque songs is the last thing we need.
