Thats a very cryptic way of telling us that there will be a meteor shower reaching its peak.

Who cares if you like the albums Date made. I don't like any of them except white zombie in a nostalgia-pop way. The fact is, this guy knows what he's doing. I imagine an SP album sounding like those, but better, with Billy and RTB in the mix. You don't have to paint your pants white, but staying cynical under news like this is absurd

Then again, you may not be cynical about this news at all...

...Just a few minutes ago, I was listening to Siamese Dream on my ipod and it ran out of juice just after the first "bang-bang, you're dead"

1) did jimmy just refer to himself as JC
2) if that really is jimmy and not billy in disguise, thats very sad that jimmy lost every bit of personality he had and just turned into a bullshitting b0lly clone.
3) im reluctant about the fact that jimmy's having a great time recording - remember how they were "W0RKING LIKE WIZAARDSS!1!" with zwan in the studio??

Well, I hear RTB is good at the 'song doctor' stuff, aparrently thats what "preparing to record" means. It certainly does all make sense though.

I mean, think of the timeline thus far, compared to the 'usual' method of recording albums...

Songwriting and rehearsal with 'the band'

Preparing to record = Preproduction demos with RTB - songs roughed out, drums and one guitar

Recording final drum tracks with Terry Date

Still left to do: Guitars, Bass, Vocals, Keys(?), in no particular order

Mixing and Mastering - and hope Howie Weinberg doesn't get his hands on it.

But, at this rate, definitely expect a 2007 release (or later).

If they're going to be working with many different people, as is the style recently, then I would LOVE for them to get Andy Wallace to mix it. But I'd be happy for Terry to mix it too - I had no idea he did Incubus's S.C.I.E.N.C.E until the other day, and I love the way that record sounds.

There's even some kind of bizarre compression artifact or something on Machina. Lame.
The producer has nothing to do with that. That's the mastering engineers fault that an album clips, not the producer.

I think the producer and/or artist would have some influence over that. Actually I'm sure they would because Billy used to say they would completely finish an album and make a CD and artwork and then hand it over to the label. If somebody fucked up the mastering they would send it back, if they bothered to listen to it before submitting to the label or weren't going for a moronic 'loud at any volume' effect.

But a lot of producers have no control over the album after it's mixed. Their job was to essentially coach the performers into getting the best takes, perhaps help with arrangement and backing vocals and the more hands-off producer describes to the engineers what type of sounds to get...and a more hands on producer also helps with engineering and mic placement. Sometimes the producer mixes the album but more often than not a seperate mixing engineer is brought in. More often than not, a producer is done after every last note is tracked, and the mixing engineer mixes it. Sometimes the producer is present for this but not always. And then after it's mixed...it's sent off to the mastering house. Some producers choose who masters it but usually that's up to the record company...and a lot of stupid record executives will say it has to be loud in order to compete with loud volumes of other records, but they are fucking stupid. But sometimes producers have no control whatsoever over the mastering of the album.

Often the label chooses the mastering engineer. I'll leave it at that.

Well that sucks but I read about certain artists who make a decision not to participate in the loudness race and keep their albums from getting mastered badly. There's gotta be some level of artist control available, at least if you're a big enough band to have influence with the label.

Default A Shooting Star

JC: "You may find a shooting Star"
- Shooting Star = Cash Car Star. Their last performance on TV.

"yeah, we hope you'll understand, yeah, we've got a master plan
yeah, we're an american band for you"

- Look at the new TSP symbol....a modified American flag. This renewal/revival has been planned since 1999, embedded in the Machina concept. Why create a 2nd band, The Machines of God? It was this band that broke up, not TSP.

'cause when you're hypnotized, they'll spin you gold and paint you black
with the blood of your surprise

- People are "hypnotized" about the band's revival, and will be completly caught off guard when TSP reveal the truth.

well, everyone's gonna be a big star, everyone's gonna drive a fast car
- Foreshadowing how people will be cashing in when they learn the truth. We've already seen one lawsuit by a group of fans who payed a lot of money for tickets to the "final concert." More will come.

everyone's gonna get a big gun, everyone's gonna shoot someone
everyone's gonna ruin our fun
- People will be pissed off when they learn the truth.

everyone's gonna be in charge 'cause everybody's business is everybody's business
everyone's gonna be contagious, everyone's gonna be so famous
truth has become so outrageous

- Fans will have more input into the music. He will go forward with his idea of releasing a few songs at a time on the internet, and letting fans decide which songs are on the album.

Jay: "Why is this the last performance? Why are you guys breaking up?"
Billy: "Comedy doesn't pay, Jay."
Jay: "Huh?
Billy: "Comedy doesn't pay."
Jay: "Doesn't pay?"
Billy: "Comedy doesn't pay."

- The whole Machina concept was generally dismissed as rubbish by most fans. People didn't get the joke.

Jay: "Billy, please come back for the reunion."
Billy: "Thank you heheheh."

- Billy laughed at Jay's comment, thinking "if only he knew how right he was."

Billy said "comedy doesn't pay" three times = three original members in the revival. Billy and Jimmy have been revealed, so who is third? the number three letter of the word three is R... which is also... the third letter... of... ... D'ARCY
