I need to take some time to marathon through Game of Thrones one of these days.
Saw a spot on TV the other day that looked really awesome.

agreed. I guess we were just thinking same thing at same time. You just posted a minute later likely typing while id already submitted. I ended up buying the knick soundtrack on vinyl.

did you like the movie Stoker? I fucking loved it. Clint Mansell soundtrack but another great weird mood movie with great soundtrack. I liked only god forgives too despite its lack of any real acting. I like everything refn has done thus far.

Oh and if you havent seen Filth yet, watch it. I loved it. Great soundtrack and a decent adaptation of the book. James McAvoy is excellent in it.

easy, it's been over a decade since I've seen both films, and back then "Justin Theroux" wasn't a name I'd remember. (I pretend Inland Empire never happened, I'd like to keep Lynch on a pedestal...)

No way I'd recognize that face while watching The Leftovers. Too much distraction with shirtless scenes!

The Leftovers: my favorite series in a long while. I don't really care about a resolve, I'm just drawn to stuff about coping with senselessness.
Shameless: terrible this season, which is very disappointing.
The Good Wife: pretty good, but changed significantly.
X-Files re-watch: mostly first watch because I only caught random dubbed episodes on tv as a kid/teen and used to be scared of it. Not really impressed so far, we'll see.

iZombie - I like this one a lot. Feels a lot like Veronica Mars in the pacing, dialogue and even voice over narration.

The Returned - watchable but still a disappoint. not unlike a number of other Euro remakes for North American TV it's just not as good as the original. I'm hoping the series improves as it goes on.

Arrow - Very good 3rd Season so far. they need better wigs for flashback scenes.

The Flash - mild disappoint. People keep saying this is a good comic book TV series but I just can't get into it the way I did in the past for Arrow, Smallville, etc.

The Americans - Season 3 was fantastic.

Rita - two thumbs up for this one. A Danish tv show now on Netflix. Involves a good looking single 40ish female public school teacher with a strong personality and a bit of a self destructive streak.

Black Sails - I like this Starz series a lot. Plenty of over acting, but what would you expect from a period story about pirates in the Caribbean?

Tour of Duty

Quote:
Tour of Duty is an American drama television series on CBS. It ran for three seasons from September 1987 to April 1990 as 58 one-hour episodes. The show was created by Steve Duncan and L. Travis Clark, and produced by Zev Braun.

The show follows an American infantry platoon on a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. It was the first television series to regularly show Americans in combat in Vietnam and was one of several similarly themed series to be produced in the wake of the acclaimed Oliver Stone film, Platoon. The series won an Emmy Award in 1988 for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Drama Series, and it was nominated again in 1989 and 1990.

Oh but it does have jokes! Its sense of humor is dark because of the subject matter but it is definitely there.

Almost three seasons in, it's better than breaking bad was at that point. Easily.

I don't understand why no one will take my word for it. I have pretty solid taste in television and there has never been anything I would so vehemently recommend as this show.

And no one is watching it. It's a real fucking shame.

Like you know how some people even gave Ozymondias a bad rating? On avclub there are 194 "community grades" on the latest episode and they are all A's.

Guys it is that good. The payoff in this episode is unbelievable. And i don't know fucking anybody who watches this show.

The Americans is better than The Wire. Better than six feet under. Better than mad men and breaking bad.

What more do you people need

I don't think FX will cancel it because it is so loved by critics. But people need to start watching.
