Personally, I'm not nearly as engaged in Better Call Saul as I was with Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad featured a genuinely likable guy facing a dire situation, so you kind of rallied for him and were taken on a roller coaster journey...

With BCS it features a conniving Jimmy (who we already know is gonna turn into a total scumbag) and his sad-sack brother with the terribly sad mental illness... And to see Jimmy plot against his mentally ill brother like we're seeing... It's just all so malicious and nearly impossible to root for any of the characters (partly because we already kind of know where it's going).

Just a much darker, more malicious plot-lined show.
Walter White was not sympathetic. He killed a dude in the first episode. He's an antihero, really the sympathetic one is Jesse.

Jimmy and Chuck are both assholes for different reasons, but Chuck truly hates Jimmy in a malicious way that Jimmy doesn't hate Chuck.

Considering that we know now that Saul meets WW/Jesse within a couple of years of where we are now, I'd like to rewatch BB because going from this prequel, Saul/Jimmy was probably not that big of a conman really but got in waaaay over his head both with Gus via Mike and WW via Jesse. I'm not going to spoil for others so I won't go on with how he could go from elder law good guy (and he is a good guy to these clients) to seedy high stakes criminal attorney but it should make sense considering the last two episodes.

As for Wexler, I am disappointed also that we don't know more about her character. Unfortunately Kim and Jimmy have no on-screen chemistry and that doesn't help. I mean, they're having sex, right? Why can't we ever see them kiss or anything? Obviously Jimmy is going to completely alienate her somehow since she isn't in BB at all. Something crazy must happen for her to cut ties after all she's stuck through with him. Maybe Chuck burns down the house with Kim and himself in it as a final fuck you to Jimmy. lol I doubt it but that could work!

yo soy i'm going to delete spoilers in this thread. please stop posting them.

i already saw it. i know what happens. why do you need to ruin it for others?

if you want to discuss the show with spoilers, make a new thread

in fact i will make one because i want to discuss it.

it's not really a side series

in fact i'm thinking of introducing it to my mom, who hasn't seen breaking bad

sure she'd miss some easter eggs but i think it could stand alone, except for the whole "why the fuck is it called better call saul?" aspect

It really does stand on its own. There's easter eggs for the Breaking Bad faithful, but it's mostly its own thing.

I'm consciously avoiding it and feeling great about it. Come at me.

Well, hey. That frees up the viewing schedule for some more Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I was originally going to go with Luke Cage, but I never actually saw any and have to allow for the possibility that it's awesome.

This reminds me of the time I didn't put all my savings into bitcoin.

Saul is such a slow burn it's really no surprise that people fell off along the way. I was only semi-proud of calling the recent finale's concluding plot turn because I'd assumed it would happen two seasons ago.
