My excitement for the movie has jumped up a lot since it was recently relieved that the Hans Solo, Luke and Leah are going to play major roles with the movie focusing on them. JJ Abrams did a great job with Star Trek and I like how he's going back to the more organic style of the original trilogy and moving away from the heavy reliance on special effects.

i had a dream i saw a trailer for indiana jones 5 and i was jumping up and down like a little girl. i really want another indy that doesn't suck

i think they were going into pre-production for a new one but it probably got lost in the shuffle with lucasarts being sold to disney and everything

The guy who was doing the original script wanted to focus on the new cast and what not but JJ wants to use Star Wars 7 as a proper sendoff/stepping stone with the original cast and have that movie focus on them and then more so on the new cast in 8 and 9. Guy doing original script left, movie got release date got pushed back and now JJ and screenwriter of Empire Strikes Back are working on the new Hans-Luke-Leah centered Episode 7 script. That's exactly what I wanted out of a new Star Wars movie so I love it.

i'm not one of those "george lucas killed my childhood" guys but crystal skull really felt like a punch in the dick.

i understand these movies are supposed to be pulpy dumb fun but there was virtually no characterization and any exposition was very vague. like, what does the crystal skull do exactly? and why did they bring marion back if all she does is scream in some 40 minute chase scene. and the series was never about deep characterization or anything but couldn't they give indy's son a little more depth. like, what was the point of having him there. its not like they had witty banter or any kind of father/son rapport like in third one

its like, i waited 20 years and all i got was a disney ride with a harrison ford cardboard cutout

that's exactly right. the film was a tentative go (Ford demanded his personal final approval of the script) and then it got shifted over to Disney who will never make it

my understanding was always that Star Wars has varying levels of canon, but that tier 1 Lucas stamp of approval canon was only the six movies, the specials, and the ewok films
