It's allright. Nothing to obsess over. Sounds like your typical Tool record, and very, very much like Lateralus in terms of atmosphere. Decent.

yes there's been really no growth since lateralus. like you said, it's solid, but nothing new. that's why i got bored with them.

I really like the new album, and it’s going to be raved about like a masterpiece, whether or not that’s deserved is debatable, but it’s pretty great, IMO.

Guess I’m just listening to it in the morning lol. It’s gonna have to be broken up which is kind of a bummer.

First two tracks: lame intros (if you don’t have one as good as eulogy or flood just don’t do it), don’t earn the length, but the second halves are good.

Invincible is great. Halfway through descending and liking it.

You could just listen to Feedbacker instead, for the love of Michael Campbell, PhD.

may even open the proceedings with a special, yet utterly empty & meaningless prayer dedicated to the Campbell King himself

All the reviews are saying pneuma is a highlight. Maybe driving in traffic is a bad environment for it lol

Overall I like it and I’m glad I have it and will listen to it. It’s being very well received critically so far.

Still think we can cut some of these intros though.

Eulogy pls calm down.

Mals has decided to dedicate his drive to Boris' seminal album, Feedbacker, in honor of the esteemed Professor Michael W. Campbell (BA Southern Adventist University, MA Andrews University, and PhD Andrews University [2008]).

do the intros ******* the interludes? i've heard tell of many interludes, of which i'm sure we could find a few to cut while we're still in the cutting mood

Cut out 90 seconds from each of the first two tracks and they’d be better.

lol Pneuma is pretty lackluster imo. Not as boring as Descending or Fear Inoculum, but Pneuma doesn't sound new or creative. Besides the verses reminding me a lot of Schism, there's a reoccouring chorus-like riff (without any vocals though), which is very similair to a riff from The Patient. (For comparison, https://youtu.be/5ClCaPmAA7s?t=335, and https://youtu.be/rDrhI1GUnNg?t=140).
I do like the slow buildup that starts at around 6:30, I think that is the best part of the song.

Most of the album is just basically a hodge podge of sounds and riffs done on previous records. Like I said earlier in the thread, the only songs that stand out for me are Culling Voices and 7empest, the first one because it sounds original and interesting, unlike anything they've done before, and the second one because it's a powerhouse on all fronts, and I think it's the only song on the album which redeems its long length. So many breakdowns, switch ups and instrumental parts which aren't boring as fuck.
