Emma Ruth Rundle

she's in a couple of bands and projects -Red Sparowes, Marriages - no idea if they're well known, I just like her a lot.

Her new album is streaming on p4k at the moment and it's a killer.

I can think of heaps of bands that fit this description but in terms of "How is this band not massively massively revered by all music nerds" I would have to say Drive Like Jehu:

They're basically the evolutionary link between Fugazi and At The Drive In. And all evidence suggests they were fucking badass live too.

Yea I'm really looking forward to pick that one up. Sargent House is a fine label, digging a lot of their releases.

Marriages aren't bad either, I'd like to see them live.

Obviously I don't qualify as a music nerd, never heard of them before. That goes straight on the album hunting list, thanks for the suggestion!
(And for the thread, elph, I need more music.)

za!, from barcelona. my first exposure to them was at a show at the spanish institute here a couple of years ago. the two guys appear to be best friends and i find that to be a very charming quality. and the one guy has beautiful hair.

I keep looking at my collection and i'm not seeing very many bands. I guess "Chromatics" is a band now? Maybe that would be my answer?

i stick by the rule that your favorite band can't be a band that doesn't exist anymore

There's no logic to it, really. It stems from those sorts of people that cite classic rock bands like Led Zep and Pink Floyd as their favorite band. It's time to move on.

But really, you may love Circle X but would you really go down on paper as saying they are your favorite band? Maybe some people throw the word "favorite" around like they do with "best" friends (meaning it constantly changes depending on circumstance)...

I just feel like if your "favorite" band doesn't make music anymore (and hasn't for decades) you're doing something wrong.

they're not my favourite band, but Sonic Youth aren't together anymore. I can't move on from that.

My favorite bands are the ones I keep coming back to...whose songs I never get tired of...bands that continue to excite and hold my attention after years of repeated listens, weather they're active today or disbanded long ago.

Many years ago when I lurked blamo some people recommended this band quite highly so I listened to them and they've been one of my favorite bands for years now. I thought they'd get some recognition over the years but... there's nothing.
