just noticed something about silvery sometimes.. they're playing along to a backing track (given since the strings are involved), but that track includes one of the rhythm guitars. James is essentially playing the second rhythm guitar live.. why the hell wouldn't billy just play his rhythm guitar part instead of walking around like a bozo? this doesn't sound good :/

I like live pumpkins. not backing track/karaoke pumpkins. waste of a great song.

anyway, i think too much emphasis is being put on mix levels as far as what the "problem" is these days

even in the glory days Billy was pretty up-front vocally, in most live settings. it's the technique, not the (volume) knob

This was painful to watch. Billy sounded shitty, he has no power in his voice anymore. The band... their intensity live is just gone. Man, they really ruined Tonight, Tonight with that horrible guitar string synth bullshit they had Jeff play. Just sounded wrong and off. I don't get it, if they are using shitty backing tracks for Knights Of Malta, why wouldn't they do the same for Tonight, Tonight strings? They clearly have the original strings to that song isolated (see Mellon Collie reissue). It would sound better than that shit Jeff was doing to try and recreate it... horribly. Plus if they wanted to get rid of the backing tracks, why not use Mike Garson to play the piano parts on Knights Of Malta since he will be coming out to play with them? But on Disarm? Ehhh. Travels, jeez what a snoozefest. Playing 1979 and it's shittier wannabe Silvery Sometimes (Ghost Of 1979) so close to each other is wrong. Plus why do they still have that pointless intro music into 1979? Out of place without the visual element. Also, Billy needs to stick with guitar cuz he looks goofy bumbling around the stage. Stop with the over the top unflattering outfits that make you look like an idiot. The Jimmy Kimmel performance, now this... embarrassing. The only somewhat decent track from the "album" Marchin On, they don't even perform live. Once I get the Machina reissue, I think I am finally done with the band. I don't have high hopes for Shiny Vol. 2 and don't care about Zwan material. I'll hear what he has from when the original band was together in their prime, but don't care for anything else.
