Default Catherine Wheel

Anybody else listen to them? I think they are an underappreciated shoegaze/alt-rock act from the early '90s, though a little heavier than most shoegaze acts.

Yes, their early work was a lot better than their later albums. They kinda morphed from a heavy shoegaze/rock band to yet another '90s alt-rock act over time.

This sounds like an interesting band to compare with other bands, perhaps song by song.

I've never listened to their later music and that's ok with me. Black Metallic is fucking epic.

Yeah, I can't really remember listening to one of their later albums beginning-to-end. The early stuff is where it's at.

Yo Tookster, you overcome your fear of clicking the videos yet?

I'd say that if you're into Hum, Starflyer, or Swervedriver, you'll dig Catherine Wheel. Not saying they're identical, but they are all amongst the bands that mix shoegaze and harder rock.

not sure what I prefer

the early stuff i.e. "Shady Cult Leader" or the later, more introspective tunes of latterday classic like "The Latina Woman Fell For Me"

you know what, I think i'll just go with a greatest hits!
