Here's a quote (2012) >>>

Butch Vig:
"He and Billy Corgan really have a special dynamic...how they play.
It's very hypnotic and I think that was the secret to the Pumpkins sound
is it had this kind of sexy swagger in a way...very hypnotic...and...the only way
I can describe it is they had this push pull thing and they were locked into
each other..."

SO: When the Smashing Pumpkins were at their peak, they did an interview and mentioned Chainsaw Kittens as one of their “three favorite bands”, and I remember thinking how rad that was. On the album you’re working on now, ex-pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will contributing. Did you have a collaborative or close relationship throughout your time with the Kittens? How did he get involved with the new album?

Tyson: Over the years, Jimmy and I have stayed in contact. When I came upon this idea to do this record in China with students I immediately thought it would be the perfect chance to work with Jimmy because I have always loved his crazy awesome drumming.

That version of Ruby is the epitome of live SP. That version the tempo is a little slow but still sweet. The 97 Vancouver is the best IMO.

I just saw that Tyson Meade was succesful with his kickstarter campaign >>>

159 Backers
$17,278 pledged of $17,000 goal
54 hours to go

>>>

Quote:
Meade played the song for some of his Western music friends, including fellow Norman-based, alt-rockers the Flaming Lips (who covered the Chainsaw Kittens' "She's Gone Mad"), Jimmy Chamberlain of Smashing Pumpkins, Maria McKee, and Other Lives (Meade has previously collaborated with Other Lives’ Jesse Tabish and the Flaming Lips’ Derek Brown on a project called Winter Boys). After hearing “Stay Alone,” these friends became interested in being a part of this unique, cross-cultural project and have agreed to contribute to this record as well.

P.S.: Guess who one of the backers is >>> Kerry Brown.

One backer pledged $3,000 or more and will receive this >>>

Quote:
I will come mop your kitchen anywhere in the world! (Transportation costs are not included in this - airfare, train, taxi must be added into the reward cost.) Plus, you will get an advance CD or vinyl copy of the album.

It just occurred to me that Jimmy playing solo to a backing track is a million times more exciting than seeing the current incarnation of SP live.

Apparently he did geek USA at this clinic as well. I'd rather pay to see him play it than see the current pumpkins play it.

I'm hoping that someone re order more from this clinic besides tonight tonight.

Jimmy Chamberlin told attendees of a drum clinic in Chicago on Thursday night that he has left Skysaw, this the rock band he formed in 2009 with singer Mike Reina.

During the clinic, hosted by instrument retailer Chicago Music Exchange, Chamberlin demonstrated several drum parts from his repertoire, including the Smashing Pumpkins classics “Tonight, Tonight” and “Geek U.S.A.” along with a few Jimmy Chamberlin Complex numbers. Chamberlin also explained why the clinic had been rescheduled from a week earlier: He’d sliced his thumb while putting a mailbox together, badly enough to require treatment at a local emergency room.

Skysaw released one album, Great Civilizations, which in its final form went on sale during June 2011. A supporting tour comprised about 15 concerts.

Ok, Jimmy has left Skysaw...he's gonna record a couple of songs with Tyson Meade this year. That's about it.

Right?

It's sickening that there was a Smashing Pumpkins "reunion", and these kinds of songs were strictly avoided. But then you get BC with a backing band attempting shadows of songs like this, and simultaneously, JC-the-real-deal, playing along to a recording of the old band, showing the stripped down propulsion of the real SP. WTF? No reason for it to be this convoluted.
